So I’m sitting here figuring out how to use LOD editor for the very first time. Yay!…
Started looking around for tutorials. Found those. Yay!..
Downloaded a bunch of improved models from all the greats Tomcat, JanHas, Etc. Yay!..
Started putting them into the LOD editor and it seems to mostly work by replacing existing LODs with new ones on the existing parent record. Yay!..
Got down to the S-60 and noticed that the parent record doesn’t have a parent for the destroyed LOD. Looked through the tutorials until I figured out how to append a new model. Yay!..
Started appending a new model like I know what I’m doing and then BAM!
“Model failed to load. Aborting.”
What, what, what?! Is my model broke? I check some of the other LODs I have downloaded and no luck. Tried them ALL… They all fail… But wait… If I go through and install the LODs into existing parent records they work like a champ. I can open them all up in the 3D-viewer and look at them and everything…
I have no idea what is going on here as I’ve tested out some of the models in Falcon and they worked fine. However, when I try to load LODs through the setup wizard and append new models it fails miserably. Not sure what to do about that. I would just go in and do it all manually but I have no idea how to find out what records are not in use in order to add new ones (i.e. what the append new record function is for). Kind of at a loss so I can continue about my business of making Falcon prettier.
Anyone come across this issue and fixed it?
Note: I have installed TomCat’s latest model pack from his site which includes all of the nice jet and missile models.
