Hi The problem was solved by uninstalling the SST program and driver, then letting Windows 10 reinstall a generic driver. Since then, all buttons are DX-recognized.

@311Blade well, the monitor I use with Helios is a touchscreen, so technically I can touch the controls with my hands. I know, it’s not exactly like clicking a physical button, but the Helios profile is so refined and functional that it offers possibilities I couldn’t achieve with an ICP alone Ciao! -=CyB=-

@xellophane oh you may be on to something there The files are ID’d by DirectInput device id, which can sometimes change, on Windows, when moving USB plugs around… different hubs etc. Haven’t heard of this being a problem on wine, but I haven’t tested it myself

@Mauricio-Sipmann Could be. I had heard some versions of Windows only support a single language, but I thought it was limited to WSR, not MSP. Sorry, not much help here. Let me know if you figure anything out.

Make sure it is set for the FOV on the first page of the advanced screen. Otherwise there may be something in your key file overriding it?

@Cali: I have used the Warthog all I can say is that it’s amazing, I have to see how it holds up over time. Same here. I got a Warthog a few month ago, pretty amazing. Software is not very user-friendly, but quite powerful.

To show how simple this can make setting up cockpits, check out Vladsim’s site http://svglobe.com/arduino/ardref.html and thread http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=79448&page=1 He’s made an online configurator which allows the user to select what physical controls he has and what they should be assigned to and then generates the necessary code, which just goes in the plugin folder, with the Arduino running the Master code that doesn’t need to be changed (if it’s just being used for inputs). His website is an absolute treasure trove of information and ideas for using Arduinos http://svglobe.com/arduino/index.html and his homebuilt Baron 58 cockpit is inspirational, with some great ideas for using cheap materials to make various controls http://b58.svglobe.com/

If the stick off centers (in the HUD test software ie) then it is a hardware problem - caused by a “mechanical play” (click pic). [image: x55prob.jpg] THIS particular issue is a reason why i personally came up with this solution (mod) [image: qmpgih8r6i7s5av54dm.jpg] If it is a constant “bank” or “trim” input, then it is either a hardware problem - which can be checked for false inputs in the control panel of Windows - [image: Untitled_2.jpg] or it is really just a conflict in your BMS input key-assigments. As this constant “bank” or trimm happnes randomly …it almost sounds like an unintented electric contact (wires torn off ie.) causing a false input or 2 device-axes assigned as “roll” axis on jet - thus conflicting. IF everything is “ok” in your device-control application (outside of sim), then you are lucky…because then you don´t need to send it back to warranty appartment as it is not a hardware issue and we can start localizing the issue inside BMS. I also can sent you my DX x55 assignments with enough pictures and elaborations …but then i first need to know if windows pics your x55 up as device 1 or device 2, so i can adjust the values in the key-file before i sent it over to you as a test-plattform (as you can see in my case stick is device 2 and thruttle device 3 as my rudder pedal is device 1 in OS). Thank you for answering. It’s assigned to Z-rotation which is the only axis available, X- and Y-axis are for ailerons and elevators, Z-axis for throttle.

Ok, did them myself (what a pain that was) Hat- cursor 1 - gun 3- pickle 4 - SRMOverride (dogfight mode, press TMS up to enable radar here) 5 - radar up 6 - radar down 7 - flares 8- SHIFT :hehe: 8+hat - TMS 8+3 - uncage 8+5/6 - TGP Sniper zoom in/out 8+1 wheel brakes Keyboard U,H,J,K - DMS (DCS style ;)) L - wheel brakes The rest are default for now. If anyone needs the file I’ve uploaded it here: https://app.box.com/s/qtk6qj6jxs2xsfihmkuo Reminder: editing controls within the game will break this file, break the SHIFt assignment and mess up the list structure. So edit with notepad+ and/or keyfile editor : https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?10821-Keyfile-editor-Alpha-Release

Hi gents, Been a long time since I posted here. Just wanted to let you know that my friend released an open source USB controller framework that can be burnt onto Atmel dev boards and used for all your pit / flight setup needs. Pit builders are most likely to appreciate. His announcement post is located at http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=126772 Here is a quote: tl;dr: This is an open source controller framework that lets you combine your pit/controller/joystick inputs into this a modern and cost effective board (useful as cougar board replacement even). High fidelity and definition, automatic noise filtering and normalization, device spoofing (can masquarade as any other USB device). Some samples and instructions available. Http://www.hempstick.org Announcing Hempstick OpenSource USB firmware for Joystick and general purpose flight sim controller. 1\. Uses Atmel's ARM 32bit MCUs, up to 120Mhz. 2\. You buy the supported boards from either Atmel directly or buy the Arduino Due board from anywhere (none of my business). 3\. Contains FreeRTOS, a real-time operating system and is fully multi-threaded, unlike Arduino's dumb busy polling loop wasting CPU cycles. 4\. Uses voltage level change event-based interrupt handlers tasks to read buttons and switches. No button press, no CPU cycles used. 5\. Up to 16 channels of 12bit ADC. Contain a digital averaging noise filter. Can use over-sampling to increase resolution to 14bit w/ software (can do 16bit, but I personally feel it's quite phony so it's artificially limited to 14bit). ADC reading uses DMA freewheeling, without software intervention, so you always get the latest ADC values at the USB report time. 7\. Reads TM Cougar and Warthog sticks with hardware (only for MCUs that have SSC modules, SAM4S and SAM3X), so it doesn't waste CPU cycles to generate the right wave form for the stick's buffer. 8\. 1000 samples per second, max a full speed USB can do. There is plenty of CPU to do more, but no point of doing that. 9\. Configure the USB VID/PID to anything you want. My CH rudder is, for instance, configured as TM16000, as I don't have any USB VID. Works just fine. Currently, these values are compiled in. A planed feature would let you configure them at runtime, as these are written in SRAM, unlike some written in ROM. 10\. You get the source code, install the IDE, change a configuration file, press a button and it burns the firmware for you. Instructions in the form of PDF and iBook. For some boards, you will need to buy a hardware programmer, but for some other boards, Atmel includes an EDBG chip on board that allows you to debug/program the MCU w/o additional hardware debugger. Yes, you read that right, YOU BURN THE FIRMWARE. Don't worry, I have step-by-step screen shot instructions walking you through downloading/installing the software tools to pressing the button to compile/burn the firmware. Installing the IDE is not unlike installing a game program. After the installation, all you will need to do are unzip the source code, open the two projects, change a config file and press the build button. 11\. Uses Atmel Software Foundation library, so supporting newer faster/better Atmel MCUs would be quite simple. For instance, I just got my paws on a SAM4E board that has a build in Ethernet on die, and Atmel's W23 WiFi module is just announced and availability is imminent. My personal take on this: I’d say this is what Leo Bodnar board should have been. Having said that it does 1000% more , faster, more accurately and is extendable, compared to Bodnar (+ its free, you only buy the board, which costs <50% the board mentioned).
• X52 - loosing center during flight

@Titanium5: I’ve noticed that my X52 is starting to loose center when flying around. When I practice air refueling, I am lining up making small corrections. Next thing I know, my plane is in an uncontrollable roll to the left. It’s slight enough to notice and very annoying. I exit out of the mission and then go back to the control screen and sure enough, the joystick is not centered. I’ve tried to search this topic but didn’t really come up with anything in the forums. Anyone have more detailed information on this? Is it the potentiometers going bad in the darn thing? This is so frustrating! It’s like it’s loosing calibration in game. I cleaned the drivers and software off according to the guide on this forum and reinstalled the drivers, plugged the device in, confirmed latest drivers in Device Manager, and then the software. Loaded the profiles and made the necessary changes in the controller screen. Thank you in advance. -Walt / TitaniuM5 been there…. If it is the x52 and not the x52pro you might wanna try this: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?19571-X52-Sudden-down-input-when-sick-is-centered&p=281864&viewfull=1#post281864 !!! Whereas it is important to differentiate between if it is the electronics “bug” as described in the link above, or if the problem you are describing is truly caused by “worn out” mechanics (thus play and shake). If it is the x52pro, then it is most likely a mechanical “play” issue as the 52pro has not that electronically caused “off-center bug” the x52 had. In the latter case try fixing those: the sensor holding “BARs”, which are in the same time the “gliding RAILs” for the magnets-shoes can get sometimes “loose”, causing a “play” and thus the “off-center” effects. Just tighten them (the screws (green arrows)) a bit. there are not POTIs, which can go “bad” or “dirty”. x52, x52pro and x-55 use magnetic hall-sensors, so that´s not your problem. [image: 42913320930743358596.jpg] As far as for Warthogh HOTAS… one is totally “screwed” if that happens: [image: dsc00250.jpg] [image: dsc00251.jpg]

My only comment is they work fine out of the box (for me). As you know, rudder control is automatic in bms and rudder pedals are largely limited to on the ground steering and brakes

@Airgait: I have an intel processor, so that shouldn’t be an issue. I kind of want pedals just for the sake of immersion though. I will look into the Rhino some more, and maybe I will sacrifice on getting pedals. I just want to make sure that the stick is actually good. Are there any problems with the Rhino besides the ghosting? The joystick may be a little sticky right out of the box (for my taste)…but can be resolved with a little grease. Other than that, HOTAS is rock solid in my opinion.

Thanks Chappy. I don’t see any alternatives options inside BMS for mouse views. What I would like is to be able to look around the virtual cockpit without having to hold down right-click. I would like to be able to set another keyboard key(s) so that when I press the key(s) I can look around the cockpit with my mouse (not holding down right-click). Example: for DCS A10C I press Alt+C and I can look around the cockpit. When I press Alt+C again my view stays in place and I can press buttons / interact with the clickable cockpit.
