And to celebrate “comme il faut” the brand new Nellis Training Range, here (all) you go: link text
This is my own little contribution: a training mission on the training ranges both, NTTR and TTR (Tonopah Training Range), created more or less in the nearby of the real one.
You have two 4-flight packages and a tanker available.
The missions have a different grade of engagement.
The loadouts are suggested only, please feel free to choose anything you like. And I am giving a customized “ppt.ini” file, more fit to this theater in my humble opinion, I’ll think that you will find it useful.
Have fun (so I hope, at least), and Gavin: if you like, please feel free to add to the theater this one mission too.
@vAiCon Is it not possible the create a short programme who doing the procedure to activate it ? (for some kind of poeple who afraid to change something in BMS manually ?) i just lunch the idea if it’s not, it’s not xD
Many thanks, @RUSHER0600 I followed along and did a ‘do it yourself update’ for Balkans. (until the official …BMS436\Data\Add-On Balkans\Terrdata\Balkans\terrain\Theater.map file is updated). Worked a treat !
If it helps anyone in the meantime download from HERE
(backup the original first).
I am working on a new Voice Attack plugin for falcon which I intend to release soon.
Several of the commands I created rely on extracting data from the shared memory, e.g. “Say distance to nearest runway” or, “tune radio 1 to nearest airport”.
Currently the Blue airports are hardcoded and, in the above example, the nearest distance is only to “Blue” airports.
Of course, this can change and you may be flying over the same are either as Blue or Red.
Are the Blue?Red countries always the same?
If yes, where can I read my “side” and the Red/Blue airpot list from?
Tiles, links and costs are all important for movement in my experience. Not sure what thr update can do actually but will take extra notice.
What I did see was sometimes units look like to stay put somewhere but the actual problem was further down the path. So be aware of that, the units look and calculate ahead in my opinion.
If you see with the monster’s tool the theater preview in THR mode you will get what i mean it seems like the THR is a “stamp” of available areas in a theater as well as the paths as well. In the pic im uploading Brown is the road paths, blue rivers etc… in a all-pathed theater besides the water paths everything els you will see it at the color the road paths have. And as Demer said here: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?10721-Theater-developmental-notes-The-Tile-s after a change in paths and tiles always update THR
The areas also are defined in the thr file as you can see with brownish orange beeing the plains and green the forest etc… even though i think that the color on the land mass based more on the tile set name rather the area but this i have to figure out better yet…
How To Use:
Use Adobe Photoshop.
Ctrl+LeftClick layer thumbnail to select the area, crop image and save as PNG.
To replace BMS UI open Art/Resources/main.idx and mainbg.idx with F4RESMANAGER and replace each TGA files.
Theres a few questions i would like to ask about theaters. I searched in the forum but i dont have the time to look closely to all the search results to tell the truth 🙂
So here goes:
1st. What actually is theater.map and theater.mea and what exactly is their role? Is there any edits that can be made on them or whatever?
2nd. Is Fartiles.tga used in BMS? can be changed to something else lets say a real sattelite image of the area converted to tga?
3rd. (i will search a bit more on that) If i wanna change few tiles i have to only replace them on the .bin or also on the texture folder?
4th (also search a bit more) whats the difference between brush area and plain?
It is because Snakeman was a total arse with “his” theaters - remember his Payware strategy on theaters that were so far for complete and simply didn’t work? - and it was quicker and easier to start again with a theater concentrated on the area I wanted to concentrate on. When I started Kuwait I chose to make it 64 segment. Kuwait Theater is NOT PMC ODS Theater. The only thing in common were KingGeorge’s 512 res. tiles were used originally, with his permission of course.
Israel is not compatible with 4.34 yet. However, the other theater for the Sinai area - Battle For Sinai - is. It can be obtained from Falcon-Online; you’ll need to create an account there to get the to the download section. BFS has been made for a force-on-force multiplayer scenario, but it should contain a campaign to be run on single player too.
