@Jeff-G 3. Confirm your laser code matches what is set in loadout screen. Also confirm you are not setting the Laser Spot Track (LST), as that’s the default entry point for codes in the DED.

I would use JSOWs on any type of vehicle column. And so you have a good standoff range even against IR SAMs. You just need to have a good spacial awarenes which direction (azimuth) you have to set. Set EGEA in the CTNL page to 1500ft (the altitude were the cluster bomb opens), with this I have the best results. You may want to revisit Trainung Mission 15 in the sim and the Training Manual in the Docs folder. Oh, and pray they dont start moving…

@greenman said in is there a f-35?: @drtbkj Thanks where can i find instructions on how to download and use the upgrades, hotfixes? and are the upgrades or hotfixes Falcon BMS upgrades or OFM upgrades? Hi, If you look here https://forum.falcon-bms.com/topic/19270/bms-other-fighters-mafia-bmsofm-journal/929 , that and the next couple of posts describe the procedure. Basically… If you don’t already have it, download the OFM Theater. Note OFM Theaters only for these Updates and Hotfixes to work. You can tell which is which , as we put OFM in the name for that very reason. You simply download and run the Installer. Do not be concerned if you get a malware warning The recently released OFM-Afghanistan (version 2.4.2) has all the new stuff. If, however you want/have an older OFM Theater you will need the Universal Updater 2.4. and then the 2.4.1 Hotfix. These are not Installers. You just unzip and replace files. Both the UniUp and the Hotfix contain README’s with instruction and changelog

I use FoxVox but there are times when I can’t use voice control (usually at night when everyone is sleeping) so I also have my comms buttons + pinky shift mapped in the key mapping (within FV) to pull up the various menus during flight. Nice to have both options available.

@molnibalage said in ZSU+AGM88: @Radium said in ZSU+AGM88: @molnibalage I have big doubts also. Maybe AIM-9X has some IR mode that allows you launch your missile on a TGP designated target or something… It’s technically possible but what I say here is purely speculative ! In fact about ~10 years ago it was considered to make az AIM-9X also an AG weapon. You can reprogram to recognize any kind of IR image / shape. But the issue is the cost. A ~1-2M UDS missile which at best can kill az AP/IFV would be way too expensive while a JDAM is in 25-50k range, an AGM-114 is ~ 100k and even an SDB II is just a faction of the cost compared to the AIM-9X. I got to “escort” one of these on a det once…a LONG time ago… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGM-122_Sidearm

@Killroy said in How do you discipline TARCAP (AI) pilots?: @drtbkj said in How do you discipline TARCAP (AI) pilots?: HAVCAP idea. I’ve had some luck with setting them as BARCAP i have tried both with success. I used F22 as TARCAP, they disappeared to the vest… as HAVCAP and BARCAP they did a good job. That means something is wrong with their TARCAP behaviour. I do not know if this is a failure for all TARCAPs in BMS. Concur. I’ve also seen some weird behavior when you set AI up to escort you , too. Also, I wondered if mission type of my strike flight could have some effect. I’ve tested SEAD,DEAD,OCA Strike, and Pre-planned CAS , and with the AI in my package and separate. I haven’t seen any vast differences. The best results so far is a BARCAP However, I’m definitely going to try the HAVCAP idea

@CaptCanada a set of default DDS files can now be found in the docs folder (\BMS 4.37\Docs\02 Aircraft Manuals & Checklists\01 F-16\F-16 Checklists\3d Checklists_DDS Backup). TBF, I’m not sure if these are the same ones created by the original installation.

In my TE the enemy unit does not move. Thank you all for your tips. Staying above 12,000 feet and using bombs or MAVs works well. I was probably a bit too aggressive before and also used the cannon from shorter distances… inspired by the movie Iron Eagle

@Ironman53rd - depends on what you really want out of BMS. If you want realism, then ignore the parts that aren’t and use the parts that are. If you’re just “playing a game”, then have fun widdit…

If anyone has questions about how to run a BMS server, or opinions on server settings, or any of that, this is the place to ask! Happy to help if I can, as well as those above, been running a BMS server for nearly 15 years and would be more than willing to assist anyone in doing the same.

@Foxtrot701 - I need to go back to my books and check, but I don’t think the type of MAV is actually in the MAV display if only because it’s so obvious what you are looking at - I think it’s only on the wing form/selection buttons…so I guess those could be resented on the MAV display? I also have to remember that some of items on these displays blink! Yes - all MAVs are integrated through the same interface. I have to agree with you - there are problems with both the LMAV and the general laser modeling, it seems. The laser issues should be easily resolved - physics is physics - and honestly, I’d like to see the laser modeling and atmospheric effects addressed/fixed first really, because that would increase/enhance the “realisimo” of all laser guided weapons and targeting in BMS in general. There are also some things wrong/missing from the TGP model - I’ve only recently begun playing with SNIPER pods, so I’m not a real “expert” there…but I’ve been playing with Laser and IR MAVs for about 35 years and know them (and how lasers behave) very well.

About the Dog Ear. One regiment had a PPRU-1 SOC command post. It could serve with target coordinates 3 batteries. 1x battery = 4x Strela-1/10 (SA-9/10) (regiment level AD asset) 1x battery = 4x Shilka (regiment level AD asset) 1x battery = 4x 9K33 OSA (SA-8). (division level AD asset) A logic of the organization, that from the three battalion of a regiment (in RL) two have AD and the reserve battalion does not have. The AD units are dispersed among the battalions. No matter that the division has in the organization the OSA regiment the OSA units are dispersed among the different battalions as it is needed. Same case with the tank battalion. This is Hungarian but maybe the diagrams helps to understand the structure and org. of the Soviet Army. Maybe the auto translation can do the job, here is in text form. https://militavia.blog.hu/9999/12/31/a_szovjet_hideghaborus_csapatlegvedelem The PPRU-1 SOC is not in the org. chart, just imagine that every regimen has one. One mot. rifle regiment, peactime with combat and support units. [image: 18_masolata.jpg] One regiment with the dispersed tank battalions, one company to each battalion + 1 reserve tank company + OSAs [image: bscap0035_masolata.jpg]

@regev said in FLIR use - do we really need it ?: Is using NVG makes FLIR option pointless ? Or the question is, on what area of my mission, using FLIR is a preferred method over NVG use ? In RL when the FLIR on Block 40/42 was introduced NVG simply did not exist. Also in LR until 2018 NVG + JHMCS were mutually exclusive.
