I have an update, i heard that the long time at the end of a flight is due to acmi processing. But i still don’t know why i crashed while exiting nor exploding while loading 3d world

I had a similar problem for a while and got it fixed when removing the debrief.txt file. Config was setup so it writes a debrief to txt file after the missions but somehow that txt file got fubarred. Deleting it and have BMS generate a fresh one after a new mission solved it for me.

Thanks, that’s a good suggestion. I have configured bms to append to the debrief.txt too, let’s see if this helps (I’ve found that shutting down the jet properly and disabling FTNoIR / TrackIR at the mission end helps, too, but I’m still getting those spurious crashes.
I’ve now added a “rm debrief.txt” to my powershell startup script, I’ll report back if this fixes the problem. Thanks!

PS: I’ve found I can still save the campaign “blind” when bms hangs in this way. I’m running windowed mode so all i’m seeing is a “leaving aircraft, stand by” screen when I exit the 3d world, followed by a completely black window when alt-tabbing to the desktop or another application outside of bms.
While you won’t see the “proper” debriefing using this method, it’ll save you from having wasted hours of planning & flying a campaign mission. Also, you can still glean some info from the “debrief.txt” file found in User/Briefings.
So what I’m doing is this:
-
Hit ESC or ENTER to exit the invisible debrief window
-
with your bms window located in the top left corner of the desktop, move the mouse cursor (which is still an f16 and turns into an f16 with a little ab flame when it hits a button area in the screen) slowly horizontally to the right until you hear the 3rd, distinct interface “chirp”.
This will tell you you’ve hit the “Save” button in the campaign screen.
-
Click once to bring up the (invisible) “Save Campaign” dialog
-
Hit ENTER to accept the default file name (Save Day X hh-mm-ss or similar)
-
Use the windows explorer to verify that a new save file has been created (in <bms dir=“”>/Data/Campaign/SAVE for Korea)
-
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can now try to exit bms by blind-clicking on the right “Back” area (the first chirp once you approach the edge of the bms window from the right side of the screen), followed by another “Back” to get the scrolling exit credits, but I find BMS usually crashes for good at this point so you might as well reboot.
Here’s a little screenshot of the cmp screen for reference:

Hiya
don’t worry about the ErrorsInSFX.txt, ErrorsINCLASSTABLE.txt, ErrorsInCockpitArt.txt there normal
but somethings eating up your memory here
96% memory in use
any mods installed could be corrupt ?
as it dosnt really say where it crashed all I can suggest is close all your open apps when flying I see at a quick glance chrome was running and crashed
<chrome_restart=google chrome|whoa!=“” google=“” chrome=“” has=“” crashed.=“” relaunch=“” now?|left_to_right=“”></chrome_restart=google>
which would eat up memory

I get this same issue as a client, ONLY in the Korean Theater, when I do MP missions. The host for the MP session does not crash BMS. Somebody suggested I create my own mission FROM SCRATCH, not reusing a stock BMS mission, and that worked…no issues. I didn’t have to change the debriefing settings; however, I might check that out…could still be the problem. Will report back in a week…
-
Hmm, interesting behaviour there, Dawgboy. Let us know how it goes. I’ll keep an eye on deleting the debrief.txt file to see if that helps.

Deleting the debrief.txt did not help, I’m still getting the end of mission freezes. I’ll try emptying out my ACMI folder next as some acmi files seem to have been created last night when I tested the last time.

Things are looking better after cleaning out the ACMI folder, I was able to fly 4 campaign missions last night without any “leaving aircraft, stand by” crashes. Nice, let’s hope this fixed the problem for good.

Another three campaign missions finished without a hang… nice, I think we’ve nailed it (at least on my system ;))
