Approach and departure charts
-
I see these charts in the docs folder. Are they used by the AI flight controllers for marshaling flights or are they there for shibs and gibbles?
-
Tha latter.

Use when the weather is poor and you got 20 guys in your virtual wing landing at the same base.

That’s assuming all 20 made it back…lol…
-
Tell that to the guy who spent time doing and maintaining them.
No way did I mean it that way…I think it awesome when the community has peeps making addon and materials to increase the experience.
I guess it make sense that the AI controllers would not use these procedures, It would be pretty complex programming but sure would add alot to have aerodomes that function in that manner.

Yeah, AI ATC does not use them, and I agree it would be nice if they did. The current standarized ATC is far from perfect, I recall an airport in a Balkans theater with mountains along the left base where you would simply die if you followed ATC nstruction with near 0 visi
As for when to use the charts now : whenever you want to do a landing in bad weather. You get a safe passage onto the airfield, avoiding the mountains, that the ATC cannot provide. Its especially visible on terrains like Taegu, Yechon, Hoengsong.

… Aviano. This is also the case on Kangneug.

It was a fair question
They are intended for humans indeed, not for AI. the trick is when you mix both in bad weather as the AI track wasn’t always predictable in 4.32
it’s getting better soon but AI will not fly the published approach unfortunatelyBy the way, all charts are also on the interactive map, which in many aspect is way more convenient to use in the pit:

Unless Ive missed a very important post, I think its still that the AI track isn’t always predictable in 4.32…

question of point of view. to me 4.32 is old and not used anymore hence the wasn’t
You should learn to read between the lines and take what you get as hints and not try to make us goo deeper in it as you perfectly know we can’t -

If I were under NDA myself, I’d probably just not be replying at all… but Im glad you did ‘goo’ deeper into this one

4.32 is old and not used anymore? hmmmmm that’s what I am running
Seems like I am always a day late and dollar short
-
The reason it isn’t used anymore by me is for you to be able to enjoy one day - so we’re busting our free time also for you gents.
So you’re not a day late or a dollar short.
You can enjoy the sim today in its current state while we have to work so you can enjoy tomorrow in a better state
in that aspect you have more time and more dollar that i haveBelieve it or not many of us work for your future enjoyment (ours as well, once we will be able to enjoy the fruits again)
Gosh what did I get into with my big mouth :wfish:

Is it appropriate to request an emergency landing in this situation, so you don’t run afoul of other aircraft? Or do you simply loop the approach until the ATC decides to give you clearance?

I tend to just treat such landing operations as coming under MARSA. i.e. just land it and try not to crash into AI.

Not the tread on NDAs or other cool things, but are aerodrome operations looking up?
