A question regarding Comms of Israel theater pdf
-
Hi,
I hope i’m not in the wrong category but it concerns general Air Force comms system. As you can see, some “UHF” case are blank, how are we supposed to figure that out ?
I am trying to use Prince Hassan Air Base but I couldn’t find a way to actually contact the tower ( if there is any, but I assume there is )
So my question is, what those blank spot mean and how can I land on a airfield that has none ?
Thanks

Use VHF.
Cheers,

Hi there my friend.
Well i’m the creator of these NavAids for the nice Israel theater.
Now in order to understand why there are these “blank” spots, the answer is simple: For realism purposes.
That means that in real world the airport Aqaba Intl. in Jordan has only a VHF frequency (its tower), as the Rafic Hariri Intl. airport in Lebanon has only a VHF frequency e.t.c.
So for these airports that their tower (ATC) have only one frequency, you should contact them with this specific one.
That means that if you want to contact the tower of airport Wadi Al Jandali in Egypt you must set your VHF at 121.75, or if you want to contact the tower of airstrip H 3 in Iraq you must set your UHF at 372.30.
So if an airport has a no UHF frequency, then it has a VHF one for sure that you can use it in order to contact it.
Last for Prince Hassan airport in Jordan you must contact its tower via the VHF at 128.90, and ONLY there (means no UHF for that airport) ;).
I hope to help.

World is little
Thanks guys, but i’m still quite new to all this, when you say use VHF, how do I tell the game to NOT contact UHF, because each time I press radio command then request landing it use UHF as far as i’m aware.
Should I leave the UHF blank too ingame ?

O.k. a little more help:
You can easily and quick set the desired ATC (tower) frequency via the “COM1” knob for UHF and the “COM2” knob for VHF of the ICP panel. Look at the below photo:So you hit to “COM1”, then hit the keys in ICP that are the order of numbers of the desired UHF frequency and last hit to “ENTR”.
The same way you hit to “COM2”, then hit the keys in ICP that are the order of numbers of the desired VHF frequency and last hit to “ENTR”.
Example:
Merkez airport in Turkey in Aegean theater v1.3 has UHF 258.70 and VHF 122.05.- For UHF you hit exactly these keys with the order: COM1 - 2 - 5 - 8 - 7 - ENTR (No need to hit the last “0”).
- For VHF you hit exactly these keys with the order: COM2 - 1 - 2 - 2 - 0 - 5 - ENTR.
Notice that you don’t insert the decimal dot “.” !
You don’t need to set both the UHF and VHF of a tower of an airport in order to contact its tower. One frequency is enough and can make the contact.
Of course if the airport has both of them and there is a special need to set both of the frequencies, you are free to do that.
Last if you like Jordan in Israel theater, you can use as airbase the Shaheed Mwaffaq airbase (home of F-16 in real world) that has a procedure for land, see below:
Check the file “MAIP Israel theater.pdf” inside the “Docs” folder for all the procedures as also the file “Enroute chart Israel.pdf” at the same folder.

Thanks for all the clarification I will look into all that !

He asked something else. He thought when you hit T-1 (not sure of the combination) to ask the tower for permision to land he though the comms he heard come from the Uhf since when you contact the tower you don’t press Uhf or vhf broadcast.
But now you know the rest in case u didn’t.IIRC I had the same q. Tower is heard and hears if u have one of both.
Also there is one freq that comms with all. It’s the backup.
So now you know.
Also IIRC if you have wrong freq but a freq of an airbase you can hear the nearby but will not hear you.
