CATA Symbols disabled on Block 40?
-
So Im curious why the block 40 has the CATA symbol disabled by default in the Avionics Configurator?
It says that only older blocks have it, but the CCIPed USAF jets still have the symbol. Was it removed in MLU jets?
-
Newer tapes
CATA is removed in AA modes AND if weapon is the AIM120 -
Can I ask which specific tapes are being modelled like this? Im perfectly happy with an M5 tape - and thus, the CATA.
-
No CATA for AIM120 for the tape ypu want to emulate.
If the target is outside the range of the DLZ, the attack steering cue will represent the required course for the target -
I would disagree, Im fairly certain the M5 tape for USAF CCIP’ed Charlie forties does have the CATA symbol. No biggie, I can change it for just me in the Avionics Configurator. I am actually really thrilled that that tool is a thing!
My next question is, if I change that setting, will that prevent multiplayer from working?
-
trust me on this one
-
I stand corrected sir. Upon closer inspection it would seem I would have spent my time well doing just that, trusting you. Thanks for the insistence, I would simply have written it off otherwise.

My next question is, if I change that setting, will that prevent multiplayer from working?
Only if the host has checked the “Same ACData files required” in their configurator
-
So the same ACData files required setting also affects the configurator?
Does that mean the configurator adjusts the acdata files?

-
BMS Manual p81: MULTIPLAYER - CONNECTION REQUIREMENTS
And p234 in the Annex: “Please note: changing settings with the Avionic Configurator will change the ACDATA content”.
-
Indeed. Ive just spent the day reading it and the others, but it seems in my haste Ive missed some salient points.
-
Don’t worry, there is a LOT of information to digest.
I’m just trying to get the point across that there will hopefully be few questions that we haven’t anticipated.
And if there are any, we’ve now got the Documentation subforum for anyone to post in and let us know.

after modifying with avionics configurator, is there a simple way to reset all back to default?

I too was looking for an option like this. I saved a copy of the default config, but then I couldnt find it afterward.
-
Open Avionics Configurator, Edit / Set Default … File / Apply Profile. Done.

Thanks Dee-Jay. Good to know.
