X65F and Radar Cursor using the mini stick?
-
As per the tittle.
I cant get the mini stick on the X65F to move the radar cursor. The mini stick does not show as an axis.
Any ideas or would anyone share their X65F profile?
Thanks Alligin

I’ve been reading the manuals mostly since yesterday. Had to re-configure my HOTAS entirely since then. My suggestion to you would be to re-configure your X65F and assign key bindings based on your key profile through your X65F software. In other words, assign the key strokes from which ever of the key stroke files you are using in FBMS, from your X65F by using your X65F software. Assign them from your HOTAS. Yep, a bit of a pain in the a$$.
Something that could be done in the future is to create a shaping axis for the mini stick that will allow it to be binded to any rotory axis for most sticks. It might be a DX limitation, but if doable, I think that could solve a lot of problems like this in the future.

There is a fix for the mini stick to show as a axis, but you need to change things in the registry, I’m sure there is a thread about it in this forum.

it can be done. You need to delete another axis first though.
If you dont care about the rudder you can create the axes and delete the rudder one quite easily with the files found at http://falcon.blu3wolf.com
Down the right hand side of the page are links for directx registry edits. Do note that such edits are very easy to apply and that such files can also be used maliciously to attack your system - so check the contents of the file before you apply it to your registry (The ones on my site are fine, but in general it pays to check out registry key files before applying them).
Reversing the edits is painful if you have no idea what you are doing. The ‘best’ way to do so in that case is to reinstall the joystick from scratch, so please be sure you wish to delete the rudder axis before applying the mod!

There is another way to do this. In SST, change the microstick (each axis) to “banded”. Then, program the appropriate cursor command to appropriate band. Make each axis a 3 segment band, and keep the middle segment unprogrammed.
I tried the axis approach a couple of times, but could never make it stable and functional. So, I did the above on my -65 , and it works perfectly. -

I had the opposite experience, personally. And with Bands, the cursor moves at a constant rate regardless of input, whereas with axes the cursor speed is proportional to the amount of deflection. That said it has the obvious advantage that doing so will not interfere with the rudder at all.

For the x65f you have to create a new advanced command.
Enter the keystroke this will create 4 boxes. shft, arrow, shft, arrow.
select the 2 last boxes and click “cut”
and “paste” those in the release box and then click “OK”. Done…
