Unintended Buddy Lase from AI

WHAT???..did we get buddy lasing?..

Guys, please don’t mix issues. The AI CANNOT affect your LGBs and you cannot affect his, AI isn’t playing in the Buddy lasing game, only humans can buddy lase, or fire IR pointer or use the LST mode to find a laser spot fired by another human.
So, the AI cannot affect your bombs. If you are missing you may have other reasons for it like for example too late lasing - if using LGB III i.e GBU-24s you want to lase earlier than the auto lasing time or the LGB will overshoot, LGB II should work OK with auto lasing even at 10 seconds. Another reason might be that your laser is blocked due to clouds covering the area between your TGP and the target.
You should RTFM the Sniper section of the 3-4 in order to understand some laser restrictions. Basically a valid laser ranging is when you have an “L” showing up in the TGP when laser is fired, if you see a “T” while pressing the laser, it means that your laser isn’t ranging and so your bombs cannot track it (again the reason is likely clouds cover).
FWIW, I had the idea to allow the player to affect AI’s LGBs with laser but that isn’t implemented, maybe I’ll add it later.

Yeah Yoni,
That is probably the most important fact that I forgot to mention. You cannot buddy lase with AI !!!
-
No it must be a bug…

Burner, i would advise to send the wingman home and keep trying as single ship. Most likely you do something wrong in the release, read the training document chapter about that mission and have a look at the checklists as well. There is a new weapon checks for these kind of stuff.

Training Laser? It must be set to Combat for the bombs to guide.

I was getting very sporadic results with the AI there. It was the only variable I could isolate. I’ve RTFM, no clouds, manual lasing from release, combat laser, no masking, no T, just flashing L the whole way. I think in retrospect it’s probably that the dock target doesn’t blow up in the middle maybe? Giving the illusion of a miss. I ran the test 6-7 times but I’ll take the programmers word on it.
So just to be clear, the AI does not actually have a laser code at all then? And the AI LGB code in the loadout UI is not even read. Its a whole different mechanic to the human TGP.

Ok. this might be long shot …
Did you an any point break the G-limits for your loadout ?
This can cause problems, one ifwich is that the bomb fuses fail. -

Hi, I don’t understand the meaning of “dock target doesn’t blow up in the middle”, for debug purposes you can try to track the bomb at outside view and see if it hits or not
(That said, explosion of GP bombs is usually seen pretty clear in TGP).As for AI, yea well the AI laser code has no real meaning. The AI does use the TGP and lock it on the target priior to release, but it doesn’t have the complex functionality of the laser mechanism as it’s not necessary.
