[Not a bug] 4.33 Speedbrake Indicator not working like I expected
-
I’m not 100% sure if this has been posted before, I’ve used the search function in the technical support section and used my eyes to look for any title including “speedbrake” last couple of days and haven’t found any.
…
The speedbrakes indicator in the left auxiliary console is not working like it used to in 4.32; whenever I use the speedbrakes the indicator instantly jumps to the fully opened position, and does the same when going back to closed (instantly jumps to closed position from fully open), at least in the F-16 CM block 50 for me. -
I believe that is the way it is for 4.33. One of the Devs can confirm.
-
Normal behaviour.
Nothing wrong with that. -
Sorry I forgot to clarify that it jumps to fully opened even when I haven’t reached full position yet, e.g. when i’ve only opened 15% it still shows 100% in the indicator.
(This means that I have no way of knowing what’s the brakes’ position except by using Shift + 3 which shows some info including brakes %, but that isn’t realistic is it)

Doesn’t mean it is a bug. … As Kolbe said … it is the normal (corrected) behavior. “Bug” was rather in 4.32 (and all previous version)
-
I believe that is how it works in 4.33. Again, Dev will clarify.
-
And it has been confirmed by 2 devs now
New (correct) behaviour is now: jump jump jump
-
Ahh so that’s how it works in the real thing?
-
if that’s the case, and it isn’t bugged then the thread be better deleted and I’m sorry for the mislead
-
I always find it better not to call anything a bug…:D

YEY!!! was waiting for that one!

I would start to call a bug spam
-
Just confirming that 3d model work, art work and code was changed to get the indicator to behave the way it behaves in 4.33.
-
My bad, I didn’t realise it was realistic… I’m all for whatever adds to the game’s realism. Can a mod delete the thread or change the subject name to something less misleading? Thanks for the info all

We’ll leave it like that with your head on the pike to warn the others

After all… Winter is coming…

I’m not about to disagree with the Devs on normal behavior, but I have to agree with the confusion with the original poster. With the new 4.33 gauge, I can have my speed brake fully open. When I give it a AFBrakesIn command for only a second and stop, the indicator says they are fully closed, but external view says they are still almost fully open since it takes about 6 seconds for them to close. I preferred the 4.32 method where I could look at the gauge and see it moving as the speed brake is in transient, and doesn’t show full closed until they are actually is closed. If there is a reason behind the current method, I don’t understand.

The reason is pretty simple… Realism.
That’s how the real one works
