Campaign targets not present
-
Hello, been playing a few missions now and this has happened twice in MP (I dont have time now but will test in SP tomorrow). When we arrive at the attack/target steerpoint, the targets are not there in the game world.
The target tonight was a radar station. The depot, radar, barracks and everything else had simply vanished and to confirm it wasnt misplaced waypoints I jumped out of the jet to the map view as the rest of the flight overflew the target area and it was very clear they were not there even though they were in the map view still.
MP settings: host bandwidth - 2000
3 x clients bandwidth - 500.Edit: I just made a TE and the radar station appears in the 3d world there, although the name is different. In the campaign (Rolling Fire) HangGan-Ni is the stations name, but I found it under Cheonan in the TE builder. The station is just east of East PyongYang.

Did anyone disconnect at any time in the flight and reconnect?
Did anyone have any network issues that you noticed?

Hi Darkman, on tonights occasion there was a minor (2/3 second game speed up) sync issue at the start for me (I was a client), but this problem appeared for everyone including the host. The previous time there were no connection issues and the static target was missing. In our first mission tonight, my friend could not locate a 2 ship of mig23s and got merged/killed by them and is adamant he should have found them on radar, but that isnt as clearly an issue as the missing static objects as he could have simply missed them (however unlikely).
Also just edited my opening post to mention the TE is tested. Buildings were present there.

We are running on the 64bit launcher as well btw. Will test this mission again tomorrow with my friend as we have good connection usually.

got to say that i was with him on that flight hosting and i usually was hosting and nothing like that ever happened where all the sudden Mig 23’s are like radar ghosts … or like happened to me aswell yesterday on a server i wasnt hosting j-7’s on the first korean campaign didnt show up aswell and were like ghosts all the sudden u realize u are being shot at by the light that gets into the cockpit

Try your next flight with higher client bandwidth settings (1024) and report back.
-
Defining the exact target and it’s location would help others to look to see if they also have that issue.

i think its pretty much random cuz it started for me with china’s J-7’s and after that on Mig23 and now the radar station called … “Hangan-Ni Radar Station” under the rolling fire campaign.

The AC not showing up may be down to the RWR not being a ‘magic tool that is never wrong and knows everything’ in 4.33.
The question is the ground targets disappearing.

Well the thing with the AC happened twice … and we aint new to flight sim … we know how to use the radar …
now i noticed that on that MP session we had no AWACS aswell… while i just checked on Single player and there is an AWACS.
did a test while im hosting with 2500 bandwith and client connecting to me on 1024 bandwith we had no issues what so ever, and we actaully tried the same OCA Strike on that RADAR station and we saw it with the TGP and FCR ! Awacs was there aswell…
gonna do another test tomorrow with a full element and we see how we do …

Good to hear. As there is more data being shared now across the network it makes sense that you need more bandwidth to facilitate that. 500/512 is fine for most TEs with a few people but when you move up to Campaign flights with more pilots 1000/1024 I think is the way to go as a minimum.

Hey guys, I’ve also encountered this issue yesterday when playing with a couple of friends at 1000 bandwith setting, (With host at 3500)
It worked fine up to the target BUT when we got back, there was no airfield to land at!
This was playing on Balkans theater, though I don’t think it’s mod dependant since I also had invisible target objects in Korea before. -

We are having a similar issus with bridges/targets not rendering.
We ahve posted a thread in the Falcon Online Forum (http://falcon-online.org/forum/index.php?topic=2119.0)
I worked out that when flying NON-F16s, targets do not load.

This is not to say that there could be no possible issue with certain flyable planes (for some reason), but we’ve been flying the harrier in the same campaign as you flew the tornado in and targets have been rendering fine, so I dont think its as broad as non F16s being the problem.
Since we have upped the bandwidth for clients to at least 800, and preferably 1000, I at least haven’t seen this problem again. And this has been tested across more than just my server.
800 ran very well the other night for 4 of us for 2/3 missions which was great.

I will try the Harrier as well just to make sure.
I am currently running 2048 with clients at 1024. Im pretty confident its not my connection as I have fibre optic.

Sorry for late response, but no, I was the host infact and there was no airbase.
We’ve run the server now on a dedicated hardware for 4.5 days (on 2D mostly) and it seems to work smooth as glass. (I know people say it’s supposed to be in 3D) Max players we’ve had is 7 I believe.
We’ve had IVC issues instead, where people can communicate on the map using F1 but ingame some people can’t seem to transmit over comms for some reason. (Unknown reason at this time)

Server MUST be in 3D to work properly!
Where did you find this information from? In falcon bms.cfg there is a specific line aimed, if enabled, to prevent the server from entering accidentally 3D, so your assumption seems to me at all in contradiction with the explicit configuration file?
-
Hundreds of postings from others saying its a must. Devs included. And years of administrating an Falcon MP server for an online squadron.
And yes: we (the server admins) are still all (at least most of us) are puzzled why this line in the configuration is still included. Its only helpful for clients running AI SPY.
