4.33 Navigation Speed Caret
-
Hey Folks,
I just wanted to thank and congratulate the BMS developers and all who contributed to the release of 4.33. It’s a masterpiece, considering the original sim is over 15 years old. Well done!!!
I have a quick query that a search or the Dash-1 has not seemed to answer:
On a vanilla install of 4.33, I fired up a Tiger Spirit campaign and joined a BARCAP mission to fly around and test everything out. I noticed I did not have the speed caret at all on the HUD speed tape (set to CAS). Is there something else I need to do to have this show up? I did not do a ramp start, just Taxi. I am running W7 Home 64Bit. Any advice greatly appreciated!
Cheers!
Dave

CRUS page options TOT, HOME, RANGE, ENDURANCE are not selected at start. “Mode Select” with 0 on the ICP in the CRUS (5) page for the desired mode for caret.

I have a quick query that a search or the Dash-1 has not seemed to answer:
When you say so you force us to react and point you to your mistake
Dash-1 page 65When TOS is mode selected a caret is displayed on the HUD speed tape. To ensure that you reach the steerpoint on time for TOS match your airspeed with the caret. The ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) to the steerpoint is also displayed in the HUD.
When TOS is not mode selected (it no longer is by default in 4.33 just like in the real jet) no caret is active on the HUD speed tape and ETE (Estimated Time Enroute) is displayed in the HUD. -
Ok thanks Frederf and Red,
My search (caret) through the Dash-1 PDF only seemed to take me to the “changes” from 4.32 to 4.33 and the AMRAAM HUD symbology section. I’ll be much more thorough next time before posting.
Kind regards,
Dave

Thank God I thought I was going mad. I also missed this in the Dash-1 God I love this sim.

As the details are so important, I tend to not search for a particular word in the manual. If I have a problem with the crus page, I read the whole paragraph on it. More chance of finding the answer, and big chance to learn something unexpectedly new in the process!
