Newbie pilot… finally an impressive sim...

Check out the youtube tutorials. I think there are a few new ones for 4.33. There are tutorials for the TE missions in the docs folder as well. That and the manual are also a great place to start…piece by piece. Been at this sim since 1998 and ever iteration, and I’m still learning…especially now.
…and yes, this is a game changing update for sure ('scuse the pun!).
Good day,

Ok it is a place to start… Guess I will need to buy some printer ink…
-
… I have NO IDEA what I am doing.
We all started having no idea too
Study, practice and have patience. -
BUT then I realized something… I have NO IDEA what I am doing…
LOL…neither do we :uham:
Take your time and read everything.

Well if you’ve got an office that allows you to print stuff off…. I printed all four manuals in a course of two days at my office.

In the user docs folder in your Falcon install there is the training guide. I’m using that with the training missions to learn operation. At this point I can start up, take off, navigate steering points, use Auto-Pilot, and land. It’s taking me some time, but I’m not really rushing anything either.

Ah…welcome to “flight school”!

Setup your HOTAS first
C:\Falcon BMS 4.33\Docs\Falcon BMS Manuals\BMS-Manual.pdf, pg 4-37. There isn’t a mode for dummies in BMS! However, the sim is already setup for mapping of joystick buttons to the avionics functions. If not already default, recommend you use (load) the BMS-Full keyfile. In controller setup, Dx map only the functions located in the throttle and stick sections of the keyfile. More documentation pertaining to controllers found here: C:\Falcon BMS 4.33\Docs\Key Files & Input\ -
Setup the simulation for learning
C:\Falcon BMS 4.33\Docs\Falcon BMS Manuals\BMS-Manual.pdf, pg 4-24
To save yourself the trouble of having to constantly restart sorties due to crashing, getting shot down, running out of something, etc, turn ON the following simulation page settings: Invulnerability, Unlimited Fuel, Unlimited Chaff & Flares, No Collision, No Blackout, Smart Scaling, and Padlocking Enhanced. -
Repeat over and over again:
- Read ALL the manuals
- Learn/tinker with game settings, planning map, DTC, avionics, etc
- Watch youtube videos. Search “Falcon BMS” (many 4.32 videos still apply to 4.33).
- Fly the training TEs
- Always remember learn first, master with repetition.
- Now you are ready for the next learning phase, how to fight and survive (BFM, DACT, CAS, etc)!

Yep, for near the cost of printing…I love my Samsung 10 inch.

Training Manual and the Training TEs, that’s what they were designed for.
They’ll take you step-by-step through the basics, all the way through to employing weapons.
It’s like having your own personal Red Dog.
