How to hit GMT with LGB?
-
Hi,
I’m a little shamed, but I’ve forgotten how to hit e.g moving tanks.
For this I use GBU-38, yes?
Then SMS page and powering the bombs, yes?
And turn laser on, yes?
And while the bomb is falling, I track the moving target and the bomb should hit the target as tracked, yes?
If ‘yes’, it isn’t working.
The bomb impacts always at the point where I released it.
I also tried a simlpy one over Kotar, released at ~14000ft e.g. over the runway (or strip, or how to call) and then slewed e.g. over an a/c on the ground, but the bomb impacts in this case on that runway.Ah, and yes, at that moment I have the BMS-training.pdf open!
TIA

No, take for moving targets for example GBU 12
GBU 38 are just for a spot/place, like bunker, which are not moving …
-
Is your Laser set to combat mode or still in training mode?
-
GBU-38 is a GPS guided weapon, not an LGB one….
GBU-39 is a dual guidance (Laser - GPS) weapon, and it is suitable for both stationary and moving targets
LGBs are the GBU-10/12/16 -

All IAM weapons (JDAMs, JSOWs, WCMDs, and any missile with GPS guidance INCLUDING GBU-39 SDB) are for stationary targets only!
For moving targets you need laser guided bombs or GBU-54 LJDAM which has dual guidance.
Of course there are also Maverick and also there are other options (Like LGM and MITL) but they aren’t for default USAF/Korean F-16s.

The bust is back
I’ve set in the LASER page from TRNG to CMBT and took GBU-12.
Thank you, sirs!

EarlybiteYou may also want to change your laser timing to 16 or greater…for moving targets.

That could make sense
BTW: 16sec. is as default by me, as I saw on the LASER page. -
For moving target, use continous lasing.

Can you quick announce how to set this or do I have to RTFM

Ah yes, sounds good… I’m still flying with my 4.3.2 key settings (wasn’t able to change because my BlackScreens have priority) and there is no first trigger detent for laser. I will keep ot my mind, Thank you!

I-HAWK, you’re right….
It was a typo when I mentioned GBU-39… I meant GBU-54 LJDAM (thats why I mentioned the dual guidance capability) -

Just stay on the first trigger after the release.

Noticed and kept.

clustered CCIP or … maverick

clustered CCIP or … maverick
It really depends on the threat in the area. Both are good…but depends on the threat.
-
depending of the “tonnage” you can cargo … you can densify the impact.
anyway small ammount of of cluster isnt enough . mav’ , give you a waranty of touch and blast.cluster , are drop and hope. the old way if you ask me : you can’t honnestly laser targert a group of armored . they are maybe dumb, but they usualy start to move as soon as they see you.
you can not use an area effect weapon anymore.

If the environment permits, I prefer CBUs over Mavericks due to more kills.

I tend to consult the “Tactical Reference” section of the sim almost before every flight, which usually has most of this info.
