Finally got a good Mav mission!
-
Man, it sure feels good to see this debriefing screen after a SCAR mission.
Things went smoothly. Boresighted the missiles before I entered the IP. I initially fired off my mavs one at a time, but when I saw the handoff “C” on the missiles, I was able to ripple fire a couple off!!
Took a long time of flying the practice TE’s, but it seems to have paid off

Nice work! One of the coolest experiences I had was rippling 4 mavs off at once and getting 4 solid kills. What a feeling!

rippling four off at once? You mean two, twice? You can only fire them off in pairs, max.

I had four stations with mavs on. Haven’t tried it in a long time as it was back before U1 I think. Maybe they changed it.

Ah well, since 4.33 Mavs are far more accurate, so two off at once is the most you can do.

I think what Planehazza is getting at is that you can only have 2 missiles locked at the same time. If you’re fast with the slewing and locking, and you’re not too worried about getting close to your target, I think 4 missiles in 1 pass is possible. Starting with those two missiles locked, you can pickle, pickle, uncage, slew, lock, pickle, uncage, slew, lock, pickle. This could be helpful if you don’t have time to turn off and reattack, for instance if there’s an air threat incoming, or if you want to hit the units all at once before they can scatter, hide, or deploy countermeasures (none of which are modeled in BMS right now).

Not sure what this means - but this is my experience:-
With TWO pylons under the wings, irrespective of whether those pylons hold 1 MAV or 3 MAV’s, you can hand off TWO MAV’s one from each pylon - you need to press the pickle button TWICE to get them off the rail - I would always take a couple of seconds between first and second pickle just to make sure you have a steady firing cross i.e. The second missile is within parameters.
With FOUR pylons under the wing, irrespective of whether those pylons hold 1 MAV or 3 MAV’s, you can hand off FOUR MAV’s one from each pylon - you need to press the pickle button FOUR times to get them off the rail - I would always take a couple of seconds between successive pickle presses just to make sure you have a steady firing cross i.e. The next missile is within parameters.
If this is incorrect can some one please let me know - as if wild horses could stop them ;0)

Yup, byt “at once” I meant ripple fire. You can only fire them singularly or 2 in a ripple. You could fire all in one pass, although I’m not sure how often that would be done IRL, and I doubt very much more than 4 are ever carried.
-
“Two in a ripple” - without checking the sighting cross ??? not something I would want to do to be honest - and I agree in RL you would probable have tanks on ;0) the inner two pylons
-
Well, 2 misses per 6 launches is far from good. However i remember my first ones in BMS 4.33 and i was getting half of them as misses. Then i gained experience and 6/6 is not a problem now.
Just make sure your cross isn’t blinking and you are in stable flight, then 6/6 will become normal thing for you.
2 launches per pass is typical thing, but sometimes it is possible to launch as many as 4, however it isn’t easy. And it is good to have CFT, no so much need for ET then, F-16 is not Grippen nor MiG-29 You got enough fuel for more than one duel

I’m not sure where you reading these extra things from. You can easily check the cross on both by msl stepping between the two. A bit more complicated if you’re carrying 4 granted. I rarely fire off two, though I suspect it’s handy if you’re firing two at a single building etc.
