DonLduk's Profile (4.33)
-
Hello,
I’m sharing my profile based on Morphine’s and Muds (thank you guys for setting up the inspiration), but I also added my ideas and needs like the LED usage and button placement/simplicity as stated below in the explanations. The idea is simple, throttle similar to a Real Life Cougar (all the functions are there), and easy to access stuff.
Please Download the ZIP and follow the instructions in the PDF File:
Download DonLduk TMWH 433.zip*Updated Nov 12: Slight improvements to diagrams and manual.
*Updated Nov 13: Fixed StoresJettison
*Updated Nov 17: moved the RangeKnob to Throttle’s Coolie.NOTABLE CHARACTERISTICS AND QUICK TIPS
- Axis are edited in TARGET, so no need to reverse or add deadzones in FALCON BMS. This has 2 advantages: Quick setup in BMS (just select the axis mapping), and Curves/deadzones are edited to make smooth CURSOR and smooth ANTENNA ELEV axis.
- LED usage for MIL THRUST and SHIFT activated. Also LED function for intensity of Throttle Backlights.
- Only use the physical Idle detent. For AB, use the LED as a guide and remove the physical detent for AB, it is not well implemented in the TMWH, its hard to lift and past.
- Focused on setting the SHIFTED presses for things I really need during hot combat. Like TRIM RESET (after dropping bombs and balancing the plane), CURSORZERO for the new 4.33 procedures on the TGP, HUD Color, HSD Range, AGmode, Snowplow, Piper mode for Gun and AGWeapons.
- For the throttle base switches, i tried to set them for things I need to “feel” during an attack or during real focus so I don’t look away. Like Laser, Master ARM, CAT, RF and AP. Just feel the switch and you know what setting you have.
- The CMS switch is important to use it with your DTC programs. For example my CMS left is a single flare, for formation and rejoin. My slap switch drops 4 chaffs and 4 flares as a panick. My CMS up is for the program I choose (1 to 4) for an attack run (mix of chaffs, flares, only chaffs sequences etc)
- The keyboard changes are for speed. I can set COM freqs and navigate the LIST menu without moving my hand. Also AA and AG are kind of important to have them mixed in the difficult to find F5 or F6 something.
- To experiment in the Future: set the coolie as the comm switch (position as the real Cougar) and handle it with your index finger. But it’s too exhausting as the resistance is high and the shape is hard on the skin.
- This is compatible with 4.33 and is based on the new FULL keyfile
Enjoy!

thanks. but for the mfd?

I love the layout of your profile! However, nothing works in Falcon. I’ve followed your instructions to the letter. Stick and Throttle Id’s showing up as 0 and 1 as requested. I do however have a set of ch pro pedals. Would that cause an issue by chance? When I go to move the throttle in the setup menu, sometimes it will move a little then stop. Nothing. The slider doest respond either nor do stick inputs during flight or at setup screen.
I’ve attached the script info from target when implementing the script. Though, I am not fmailiar with it, it does look as if it’s running properly to my untrained eye.

LOVE THE PROFILE !!! IT’s PERFECT!! THANK YOU SO MUCH !!! -
Glad to see more people releasing profiles, and happy to have been of some inspiration

Hello.
Did you select the axis in the Advance page? -

It could. Each device that is connected takes up a ‘slot’ with 32 DX buttons/switches available. If you set your stick to ‘slot 0’ and assign commands 1 - 32, then later, the device order changes …. say the rudders become ‘slot 0’ and the stick becomes ‘slot 1’, those 1 - 32 commands will be associated with the rudder.
Therefore after you’ve made a profile you have to keep the device order the same … stick is always ‘slot 0’, throttle always ‘slot 1’, rudder is always ‘slot 2’, etc. One way to do this is to always connect your devices to the same ports in the same order as when you made your profile.

@Aviators:
thanks. but for the mfd?
Hello thank you for your interest. Since I dont have MFD I don’t use the code. But a quick tip: you can take the code from Mud’s profile (his Target file has the code for MFDS), just copy and paste to use in your computer.
-
First thanks to both DonLduk and Mud for the profile, and very comprehensive documentation. Bit of work in there…
I have both a cougar and warthog connected, but don’t want to have to disconnect or change the controllers when i want to swap. I got them working with the following observations. (note i don’t use the thrustmaster MFD’s).
When i fired up target, a virtual ‘Warthog controller’ became visible in the game, and the DX buttons worked like they were from controller 1 (Trigger 1 showed up as DX1)
I didn’t have the change the DX mappings for a higher order controller in the Keys file for the game.
Once i switched off Target, the cougar again became my primary controller.
In order to allow a quick change over i copied out the axismapping.dat file for both cougar and warthog, and just swap them depending on which controller i am using. One query on the script, as the AB lighting seems is not working correctly for me. Only LED4 comes on then 5. Would be nice for sequence 5-1 as throttle moves through AB. Dont know if its possible?
//LED Throttle Position Indicator; LED 1 - MIL Power; LED 1-5 AB KeyAxis(&Throttle, THR_LEFT, 0, AXMAP2( LIST( 0, 65, 75 ), CHAIN( LED(&Throttle, LED_ONOFF, LED_CURRENT-LED4), D(), LED(&Throttle, LED_ONOFF, LED_CURRENT-LED5)), CHAIN( LED(&Throttle, LED_ONOFF, LED_CURRENT+LED4), D(), LED(&Throttle, LED_ONOFF, LED_CURRENT-LED5)), CHAIN( LED(&Throttle, LED_ONOFF, LED_CURRENT+LED4), D(), LED(&Throttle, LED_ONOFF, LED_CURRENT+LED5)) ));

Hello all
I updated the profile a little. I realized I had redundant functions in the THROTTLE COOLIE for FCR Range, while the range knob in the Shifted Joystick does the same in AA mode.
So I removed the RangeKnob from the joystick, placed it in the Coolie for the Throttle
The only loss is AG Radar Range because the RangeKnob in AG changes radar gain and not range, but hey still the FCR is locked to Steerpoints and range increase/decrease is less used than in AA, so I can live with that.
now I have more simplicity with the RangeKnob on the throttle, positioned as the real Cougar and without shifted layers.

Hello, I designed the leds like that. I only wanted to know the MIL thrust threshold and when AB is engaged.

No matter what I do, my TM controller ID’s always look like the attached in my DirectX Diagnostic Tool?
……and why does my controller show up as " Thrustmaster Virtual Game Controller (root)" in the DirectX Diagnostic Tool after i run .TMC file with the TARGET Script editor…am I missing a step here?

Hi, can you try to disconnect your other devices?
*disconnect everything
*restart pc
*plug the joystick where your “SB tactics 3D” is plugged . it should take the 0 ID…
*restart
*plug throttle and see if you get id 1.
*restart
*plug SB tactic 3D (doesnt matter what ID you get)About the name of the Thrustmaster game controller, I found this:
“Depending on you Windows version it might have another name; it’s the little dialog that list all active joysticks, and where you can access their properties.”
What windows version are you using? I have 8.1, maybe it changes the name but it should be OK for Falcon, the deal is the joy IDs
-
I use win 7 64……I will try unplugging my pedals and see if that does the trick…thank you very much
-
I tried unplugging everything except my Saitek keyboard and the command pad continues to take the id1 slot and the joystick id2 and throttle id3……should i try changing to a stock keyboard…or is there a way to change the script to look for id2 and id3?

AWESOME profile DonLduk, now I can learn BMS,

First of all, great job and thanks for the detailed instructions! I’m having difficulty with setup, however. After I run the script, I’m able to verify that Thrustmaster Combined is controller 0 by running dxdiag and my Saitek pedals are controller 2. However, when I open Falcon and load the keyfile to set the controls in the Advanced Options, the pedals are identified as 0 and Thrustmaster Combined as 1. Any thoughts on what is wrong and how I can correct it would be greatly appreciated? I’m running Windows 10, if that’s of significance.
-
Problem resolved by unplugging pedals from a USB 3.0 port and into a USB 2.0, the same type the HOTAS was plugged into. So simple! Again, thanks for your hard work and great profile.
-
Windows 10 here and I had the profile running great last night but I’m unable to duplicate it today. It seems no matter what I do now with the Script running it shows as Combined ID-1 when it seems to be setup properly with joystick at ID-0 and throttle as ID-1 without the script running…I have tried everything Don, it’s a great profile I just wish I could get it working again.
Without Script running
With Script running/Saitek pedals stay as 2
I’ve put so much time into just trying to get this sim running properly and I don’t want to give up on it. Maybe I might have to give up on trying to use the TMWH and go back to using my trusty old Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2, the Warthog joystick is way to stiff for my old broken wrist anyway. Wish me luck! I’ve tried all the other sims, they don’t have the Dynamic missions and campaigns like BMS nor do they have nearly as good a flight model, DCS is nice but it’s like arcade compared to this. Is it possible to use your script for just the throttle?
Cheers and Salute!

hi,
thank you for trying out my profile. I appreciate it.When the script runs, it disconnects “virtually” the joysticks and throttle, and then reconnects them (hence you hear the USB unplug sound a couple of times). Maybe during this process, the pedals take the ID.
tip#1: My suggestion would be to run the script WITHOUT the pedals, and when all set, plug the pedals.
quick tip#2:
try buying a powered USB Hub (d-link etc) and plug the devices in order to the hub, and plug the hub to the usb id 0 port. that way you can guarantee they will connect in the same order. I use on of these along with Trackir, wireless mouse etc and never have problems day after day.tip3#: don’t quit on the warthog, once you figure out and repeat the process, it becomes a great experience to fly.

Thanks for the reply, the USB hub sounds like the it might be the way to go. I’ll let you know soon…again thank you.
