So, is this a valid tactic?
-
haha, for instance?
On topic, I understand that the us military will prosecute such targets with cruise missile saturation attacks, correct? -
@Master:
I ingress NOE, jammer on, using terrain masking
If they don’t know you’re there while masking, no reason to jam… that’s like sneaking in a shadow while yelling at people
-
It does set up the mood for what to follow though…
-
Any tactics that hits your target without you getting shot at or hit is valid.
-
“Murphy’s Laws of Combat,” rule #2 - If it’s stupid but works, it isn’t stupid.
-
does the law about the lowest bidder works here too ?
Great fan of the Pontowski saga as well -

You gotta be certain that there are no threats (low alt SAM, AAA, infantry, MANPAD) in the vicinity of your flight path, remember, even automatic weapon fire is dangerous at such low altitudes, otherwise good tactic for the condition that you have absolutely top notch intel!
-
Sad that we do need saturation attacks for now, will get intresting soon as sam’s can shoot harms and cruise missiles down. Least SA-15 should target those
-
Correct point, i always plan my ingress to avoid any possible manpad/shorads but, alas, intel is not always accurate, i have come upon tracer storms to many times for comfort

I have this mental image of me flying at a SAM site going “GSHDFGSERGFACRAEGAEVFBTSDFGAEFVAE!!!”, while the operators are just holding their ears and squinting.

@Master:
2 bombs on each target. (1 sdb yields poor results)
I just tried two SDBs per segment and they would damage but not destroy - are you achieving destroyed runways?

yes, 2 bombs per segment, stacked ripling, 4 segments, the airbase appears 0% operational in debriefing. Choose the highest priority segments.
-
Only unrealistic thing I can think of is the weapon you’re employing. IIRC dropping SDBs on an airfield should basically accomplish nothing more than forcing some unlucky enlisted men to go out with brooms and clear the runway of FOD material.

this video demonstrates the penetration power of the sdb. If the explosion from 2 sdb’s is powerful enough to displace the concrete, i don’t know…
-
@Master:
stacked ripling
How do you do that - I don’t think I have an option for rippling more than one automatically?

you do, in the sms page, osb 20 i thikg, has the option to set 1 bomb dropped, 2 bombs side by side, or 2 stacked. Its a small triangle next to the osb, hit it twice.

That’s actually what I just tried, but it still only released one for some reason.

You need to hold down pickle until both bombs clear the jet

Sorry - just figured that out - still no difference though. They release a second or so apart - is that right?
The segments look nicely destroyed, but I only ever get damaged in the debrief…

yes, you need to hold it for a while, i have no prob rippling 2 of them. Don’t know why you get damaged though, check the airbase status in the map, activate names in the right click menu. I always get 0% with this method.
