RWR symbols in TacRef
-
Pilots,
I just wanted to crosscheck some RWR symbols in the tactical reference.
And then I noticed that I dont see any symbols in the screen….how that?
But I do see an “M” when checking the missiles (AA-12, Aim-120)…and I do hear tones…
Ideas?

In the tactical reference you actually hear the RWR sound you’d hear if that aircraft you are looking in the tactical reference would track you in-game.

TacRef is not up to date and some symbols are missing (images do not exist and must be created from scratch). Maybe will be fixed in the future but is not top prio. (need time)
There will be some changes in the next version. But no everything will be “fixed”.

Thanks for the update!

Not sure if this is the TacRef’s fault, when I was importing my OF TacRef into BMS (which is what we have now) I checked all RWR symbol numbers to be correct, but still very few of them appear (it was the same in OF too). Probably a bug in the code.

No bug in the code for sure Kosmo … it is just the pic (.tga images) that do not exist for some of UI RWR symbols. … will fix that (If I can) as soon as I can…

Ok then, maybe I can help, send me a PM what needs to be done.

Noticed them not being there as well, so will ask here:
In the A-A training TE, I saw 29 in the RWR, so I was expecting a MiG-29, but radar lock (and later visual recognition) confirmed it was in fact a SU-27. Is this normal?
I’m guessing they have the same radar, resulting in the RWR symbol, so I think a small guide of most common/dangerous threats would be useful until the TacRef is complete.:) -
Yep, will appear as same - only the radar is identified, not the aircraft.
-
Maybe a litte old thread… but I can not find those symbols or sounds in 4.33?
-
-
Normal. It has been removed from the TacRef. Not a bug.

The J-11, Mig-29A/ G/ M/ S, Su-27/ UB, SU-30M/ MKK, Su-33, Su-34, Su-35 and Su-37, F-16 AGRS all appear as 29 on the RWR.
The Dash-1 has a good list of the RWR symbols on page 41.

what is the format for the tga files in the tacref?
I tried all the combinations I could but none worked.
I tried with the properties I see in the files but doesn’t work.Edit: Never mind found it.
Via Photoshop
Set Image–> Mode–> to RGB and 8bits/Channel
Save as Targa .TGA and select after ok 16bits/pixel and no Compress (RLE).Maximums for size:
Width: 447 pixels
Height: 147 pixels
Resolution: 72 Pixels/Inch.With this size the photo is perfectly centered in the area in the UI. It can be a bit larger but just a few pixels and it overlaps the frame thus fubars the border of the area.
So when adjusting the size you must not overcome none of the width or height.
I was trying with Corel Photopaint previously and couldn’t spot the correct settings.
Have fun.
