ACdata - tweak landing gear data
-
Gents,
I’m adding some new AC into the DB for testing purposes and need some information.
In the .dat files for each aircraft there’s some information regarding landing gear, like the example below:
#Gear xPos [ft] yPos [ft] zPos [ft] Extent [deg]
+5.00 -13.88 +3.70 +100.00
+5.00 +13.88 +3.70 +100.00
+40.00 +0.00 +3.70 +100.00Can anyone shed some light where do we retrieve the corresponding data when adding a new aircraft?
An example:
I want to add an Alpha jet and, for that, I’ll use AMX’s .dat file. But where can I get the proper values for the landing gear for the Alpha Jet, for instance?
Also, for helicopters, I’m assuming there’s no need for .dat files, since there aren´t any in ACdata? In this case, adding an EH101 Merlin, how do I make the landing gear raise and lower without the .dat file? DOFs in the LOD model all work as they should.
Thank you in advance, any help is appreciated.

Positions can be taken from the 3d model itself.
X is from the nose of the aircraft.
y is from 0,0,0 (centerline) to the center of the gear tire.
z is from 0,0,0 to where the gear tire contacts the surface.Degrees can be set to 360 if you use limits on your DOF’s. Otherwise, you can limit all associated DOF’s with a specific degree (i.e. if gear one is set to 100 degrees, all DOF #19’s will only move 100 degrees).

Thank you for the quick information.
