Windows 10 Sucks
-
I used to run a windows 7 install, only to find my computer one morning arranged as some hacker’s warez mirror.
That’s not a problem of Win7 but more a problem of user errors reguarding PC security.
-
Zero problems on Win 10 x64 here. Even ALT+Tab works with a bit of fiddling. (Shouldn’t use it too often though.)
-
Same issue with me. My Warthog Hotas has to be the first device in joy.cpl and Win 10 changes the order (and IDs) every damn time I boot up.
I tried loads of solutions (USB power settings, sleep settings etc) but the only thing that works is using a program called USBDeview by NirSOFT to uninstall the devices below the warthog and then plug them back in so that they appear beneath it.
Once I’ve done that, I don’t need to setup my damn mappings every time.
Cheers,
Del

+1 having no problem at all with Windows 10: for me, too, this is the best Windows Microsoft has ever released.

Windows 10 is fine, and this is not a BMS topic.

+1 here.
Win 10 (I’ve the Pro 64 bit version installed on my system) not only is far more stable than 8.1, which was already good, but gives its best with both BMSs.
And not whith them only, to tell my own little experience, but in general with several other flight sims.
Best regards to all,

Not trying to start something, but that’s why it is under the General Discussion Topic. DCS is not a BMS Topic and there are several threads about it. We are just expressing our opinions.

I’m running Win 8.1 on my flight sim machine (see sig), and Win 10 on my ‘normal’ PC. I’ve held off upgrading the flight sim machine, because it seems to work fine with all that I fly (BMS, DCS, FSX occassionally). But Win 8.1 does have its quirks (regular BSOD 0x9F issue) so I’m not opposed to upgrading if it’s worth it overall.
As there’s a spread of good/bad experiences in this thread, can those that have Win 10 on their machines help the likes of me by saying whether Win 10 is good/bad for them in sims, and list specs and peripherals? Thanks!

What solved that issue for me was plugging everything except my flight related controllers into a powered USB hub and setting axismapping.dat and joystick.cal to read only.

Ah sweet, I’ll give the read only trick a go. I imagine it’ll be frustrating in a few months though when I forget and want to change a key [emoji1]

I use Win 10 with 4.32 with the X55. No problems (so far!) However, the IL/Lomac family are plagued, having worked smoothly with Win 8.1 & Win XP previously Serious bummer, as MS appear not to bother with sorting compatibility with Win 10. Time was, MS O Systems were backwards compatible. No more, and this really sucks. Can’t be that difficult to have a function that could make this work again. Have not yet got 4.33, but will DL soon & hope Win 10 behaves.

Windows 10 here, 6 PC’s inc an old HP Laptop, older Gen HP i5 and a crappy Lenovo touch screen all run W10 and BMS 4.33 just perfect, no issues what so ever.

I just turned off the advanced power management features for all USB devices in the registry. That sorted the problems I had.

Other than than no problems whatsoever in BMS & DCS on 2 machines running W10. Doesn’t mean though that I’m not too pleased with certain things in W10

Strange, I followed the same thing but it didn’t work for me. I blame my cheapo powered USB hub [emoji1]

Ah yeah, perhaps I should have added I don’t use a hub.

Agree with Kneejo!!! Went from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and BMS 4.33 runs better now than before. I am using the Thrustmaster Hotas A-10 stick and throttle, works great and also works great with DMS A-10C. Only thing I do differently now is turn off Windows Defender BEFORE i start BMS or DMS. Turn it back on before shutting down and have had no issues at all. Configure your machine as Kneejo indicated, works well if you do…

I’m on win10 with an x-55. 10/10 experience, would do again! Runs flawless.
