Exploding short to home plate
-
Hi,
just flew a mission in Tiger Spirit. At ~ 30 nm before landing I suddenly explode!
There was no enemy thread, no enemy air defence.
Only suddenly “bum, piep piep piep, warning warning”…
And as I looked at the debrief I saw, my AI-wingman also was RS.Greeting

ACMI?

Bet you there was an A-A threat that you failed to recognize and you ate a heater which will NOT give a warning indication.

If I’m able today I will have a look on the map, what is going on there after I could get my debrief after rescue…because I saved that moment. I’m already excited, because we both, me and the AI-wingman, were shot down, at the same time and in a really short time.
Ah<not to=“” forget=“”>, ACMI, naturally…no. I’m not using ACMI, because of disk space. Some months ago I bought a second SSD (the first has 128 GB) (using here Linux Mint and Win-7) with the totally expectation that 256 GB+ is *more then *enough… <errare humanum=“” est=“”>.Greeting

Mid air collision?
But I still try to find the technical problem here. -
Mid air collision?
But I still try to find the technical problem here.Mid air collision? Hmm, AI-wingie into my a/c? Hm…, really?
-
I have had something similar happen to me as I was positioning myself for landing. Come to find out (for me anyway), I was shot down by an enemy aircraft. Spoke to someone about it, and they say enemy aircraft are now more aggressive and will follow you all the way to the base. Also, they are more sneakier with their radars…never knew they were there.

Here is a picture which shows the situation directly after I was rescued and maybe 15 sec. after debriefing:
You can see either the ruler which shows up a 30 nm radius…

Uhmm, happend to me once in OF 4.x or BMS 4.32, when I had my AI wingie in close “paintjob” formation,
and in the moment I requested landing vectors from ATC the AI turned right into me.So mid air collision could be a valid reason.
Cheers,

Check debrief file?

Check debrief file?
You mean, what you can deselect in F4-Browse? No, I have it deselected…
-
I mean - C:/BMS4.33/User/Debreif
Text files of mission debrief. Don’t know why you would turn off, (although I have selected the option not to log AAA fire) as the files are only kB sized and can be deleted at your leisure. Can be useful in your situation when not running ACMI.

Exactly. Even with 4.32 I’ve seen the enemy follow you all the way back to your home plate so that much isn’t new. What is for 4.33 is as you listed above they are WAY more sneaky and if you don’t maintain high SA it is extremely easy to eat a heater.

EarlybiteThis doesn’t necessarily mean anything because if no friendlies are picking up those aircraft on sensors it won’t be displayed on the 2D map.
