Don't load TGP with AGM-65s
-
I love this little additon to my Vipers shape - has a huge effect on the operationality of the aircraft
-
Taking off without a TGP just feels wrongā¦.like leaving the house without your wallet
-
Yeah, I do, butā¦ Iām used to doing things the old way, none of that Mav alignment rubbish! Someday Iāll overcome my laziness and properly learn how to align themā¦ but until then the TGP is, like in other aspects of my life, just dead wight under my belly, if you know what I mean.
-
with the new terrain and clouds its almost impossible to ID a target like an ammo dump without TGP from high altitude while going low attracts a lot of AAA, and I like the fact that it is difficult and the same old terrain we have seen for years is gone forcing me to improve my skills. Thank you BMS team.

Literal dead weight, seeing as now BMS models both the increased weight and drag that it causes.

ā¦and probably as it should have been in the first place. I bet Sniper is heavier. But maybe slicker?..dunno.
-
Just throwing it out there but Iāve been flying the Hornet on BMS and found that you actually have to add the AN/ASQ-228 FLIR pod to the Hornet in the loading screen just to have TGP in the Hornetā¦ā¦I just didnāt know if anyone else knew.
Plus on BMS it goes on the left cheek station just like in real lifeā¦whoever reads this just donāt think I have Carltonās smerk on my face

Dunno about BMS, but on the real jet sniper is MUCH slicker. Both lantern pods is more than 50 DI.

I know that some pods also have NAV FLIR (or that functionality) built into themā¦I forget if Sniper does or not. But I wouldnāt be surprised.
-
I was under the impression Sniper does not do nav FLIR. Ive not looked into it though.
-
It is the cutting edge, so I wouldnāt be shocked. Big pod thoughā¦but that comes with the physics.
I wish BMS did a better job of simulating EO sensorsā¦and Iām not talking about graphicsā¦I mean their actual behavior due to the RW physics.
-
What behavior exactly are we complaining about here? Temperature deltas for IR sensors? Or something else?
-
Yes. In BMS presently the IR sensors appear to behave more like TV/video based sensorsā¦they use image contrast, but they donāt really see/model thermal contrast in their virtual image - like the heat from a tankās exhaust, or a shipās wake, forex - and include that in how they behave.
-
Would be quite the performance hit to add those kind of effects. Would definitely be neat to see folks trying to ID hot tanks against a similarly hot background though [emoji14]
-
ā¦now youāre getting the pictureā¦!
Really, I think all youād need do is change some of the mathā¦and you can dial back the MFD display resolutions some, FWIWā¦real aircraft displays are nowhere near gamer resolutions. Iād certainly be satisfied with lower, more realistic MFD resolutions if I could get a closer to real sim in trade.
-
Pretty sure by default the MFD resolutions are only 256 pixels. FWIW, the higher resolution is needed to avoid artifacting when viewing on different sized displays.
-
Yes, but I read about folks running DVI and HDMI to cockpit 600 x 800 LCD displays vice simple VGA and saying they get ābetterāā¦when they donāt really need to be doing that, IMO. And I have to hope that if I donāt do that I can also free up processing resources for the sim. I hopeā¦
-
Well, put another way, the base resolution is 256 pixels (you can double it in the config files) but the resolution its mapped onto is independent of that.
-
Still going to go VGA and call it good in my own buildā¦and even go so far as to cover my LCDs with a plate of anti-glare plexi. Iāve already got all of that fitted up, I just need to make the mounting plates for behind the bezels. I still need a small drill pressā¦
