Doomed like the Charge of the Light Brigade: How to Solve this Tactical Situation?
-
Dude, so… set yourself up a TE.
Make yourself DCA, and set up a cap.You can drop down the number of adversary that are sweeping against your cap.
You can also change their weapons loadouts, if you want to take the threat level down a little. This can give you a chance to do a 2v2 without anyone jumping you, or any SAM picking you off.
then try bumping it up to a 4v2…
or maybe 2v2x2Takes a little bit of the surprise out of it, when you know how many there are, and where they are coming from.
However, you need to start somewhere (other than under your parachute)MUCH BETTER would be to get a human wingman and human red force to fly against you, turn shields and unlimited weapons on, and practice that way (!!)

I’ll give both the IA’s and TE’s a try to ramp up my skills, for sure. But the question still remains, whether in IA/TE/campaign: how to deal with multiple groups roaming around the compass?
I’ll have to look through the flight manual to find the shields and unlimited weapons procedure. I assume it will be controlled from the “Star Trek” MFD page? I’ll know I’ve found it when I hit the page with the LCARS UI

It’s a panic and the plan is to learn SA and not start on ACE settings. There are some missions that you cannot win. It’s meant to be difficult. You have to figure out how to win; altitude, not getting shot down, when to launch etc. It’s like your first time driving you are jumping into an Indy car and winging it. Also, you are relying on the AI ATO to task missions; forget that. learn to do that yourself. It is very rewarding. You don’t need 200 miles strikes on red airbases covered by 20 sams when your being overrun. I have found being ultra aggressive is the only strategy to win. Start with all barcaps and task a few sead missions to take out the red sams overlapping your flot. There will be missions where you shoot down 6 or 8 or 12 and still get downed; eject and get into the next mission asap. If it was easy no one would be reading this forum.

Take out the latest generation fighters first; SU27/33 and Mig29S. They are the greatest threat. Older Migs will be bombing simultaneously your sam sites and trying to shut down your airbases by sheer numbers They will shut some down. It’s impossible for a few F16’s to stop the red horde of 60 aircraft. Love it. Lots to learn brother think it through.

Played this campaign recently and was reduced to Kadena only. It ended in a stalemate because I didn’t advance my ground troops quickly enough. Next time round I would personally take out the SA-10 immediately, then take out the Mig-27 and Tu-16 bases to avoid losing my own airbases and carrier. I’d have the ATO exclusively task barcaps for the first day or two - I think that would attrit the Flankers and Mig-29s sufficiently, but if not I’d go after their bases too when possible. Your barcap mission sounds like it might be undoable - probably hard to get on station in time.

Like I posted above you cannot rely on the AI to manage the ATO. It won’t task enough DCA and Barcaps to guard your carrier. Take charge. You can change waypoints, loadouts and create missions. After seeing my carrier sink I resolved to figure out how to win. Check out the ATO and manage the pak’s etc. its actually fun and it is alot of work. Place barcap mission type all the way to the right and all other mission types to the left. Zero out the paks that are not on the flot otherwise the ATO will task missions there. The carrier is also parked way too close to the reds and that can’t be changed BUT you can task enough barcaps to attrite the reds and turn the tide. Take the role of Air Boss and manage the campaign. Roll back the sams immediately, shut down the airbases you can get to and protect your own runways. You can right click on any aircraft to see where it is based. Once night comes you got F117 and B2, use them well and morning will show a very different and diminished threat. Hit the massed reds at the flot with jsows for lots of medals. You will look like Patton in a few days. Then kill everybody. Great fun.

cptmge,
You are saying “fix the strategy so that I will not be in the hopeless tactical situation” rather than try to figure out a way to solve a hopeless tactical situation. I hear you. Will give it a try!
-
Keep posting your progress; me and lots of smarter Falconers here will help as we all learn together. Good luck!

cptmtge, thanks for the laugh!!

Will do. Looking forward to growing with this for a long time to come!

At campaign start task a few sead strikes before the reds arrive in huge numbers. Right click on the red sam unit, create mission, adjust loadout and roll back the red sams covering your flot otherwise you will lose a lot of aircraft there. SA10 first. Then jump into your falcon, down six and rtb then repeat. I am now in day 6 as my ground forces are entering Pingpong.

YOU can control the ATO

Open the ATO. you control this air war with the sliders and PAK’s
1. what is your priority? Answer: push back hard on the air attack There will be so may reds coming you won’t need to do anything else and if you do create that mission yourself,(note slider “war production” should be to the far left also).
Your targets? Enemy aircraft
I task all the other missions myself. Once gaining air superiority primarily by hitting the red airbases as soon as it gets dark with stealth aircraft to shut them down I destroy the red forward ground forces. If they are too close to my airfields I hit them even at times carrying JSOW’s on barcap missions. The red airbases are repaired in 2+ hours hence I have been hitting them as soon as I recon the airbase and see at least one runway is repaired for 6 frigging days now. The PRC then the CIS will come in against you so be ready for the unbelievable amount of SU27’s loaded with AA12’s. Once you shut down their airbases all those Flanker pilots are playing circle jerk in their bunkers while you decimate their ground forces thus allowing your ground forces to advance. Create enough barcaps to protect the carrier as you will need it.
As your campaign progresses you alter your targets, mission types and PAKs destroying the enemy army bases, depots, naval bases factories etc dismantling the enemy. In my campaign now there are few reds firing back and when they do I task a sead mission to destroy that threat too.

The simple solution to this problem is to prioritize the sa10. Fly in very low, very fast, do a pop up with 2 harms, then egress in the manner of your ingress.
Taking out the Sa10 will save your team from losing its entire air force in a matter of hours.

Suggest you assign a wingy to magnum them and you finish on the launchers with clusters.

Have you destroyed the active flap lid close to 50miles?
