Voice Control Recommendation for a Cougar on a TUSBA
-
Hi, is anyone using voice control software with a Cougar on a TUSBA? if so, I’d appreciate if you could advise what it is and how easy or difficult it is to set up.
Many thanks

I use Voice Attack, but Key Speech should work too. Super easy to set up especially if you’re using a profile someone already created.

Thumbs up for Voice Attack “VAC” from me as well, great value at a very good price.
I had a bit of trouble getting it to work on a german win7 install, and seeing you’re posting from Scotland you might have a bit of trouble too depending on the “thickness” of your accent, but it’s easy to train windows voice recognition if VAC is having a difficult time understanding you.
Cheers, Uwe

Voice Attack here as well.

VAC is excellent and super easy to use.

Thanks Uwe, that made me laugh, our vernacular\dialect is not just an issue with Siri, we have trouble being understood even in face to face conversations with people from elsewhere in the UK - it’s even worse on the phone - though, I find slowing it down and speaking clearly helps a great deal.
I have opted to use Voice Attack and am finding it very simple to set up and use with absolutely no issues at all in being understood after three goes of the voice training. I had downloaded DWVAC though, find\found it difficult to get working in 4.33 - it works outside of 4.33 so I guess it comes down to the key I had mapped for it, I was trying to use the HOME key which is UHF Up on the throttle, I’ve been advised to map it to F8 so I’ll maybe give that a go however, I cannot fault Voice Attack - what a difference it makes not having to press keys, makes the experience so much more fluid and important an upgrade as Track IR was\is.

What does the TUSBA have to do with voice recognition software? Are you saying it affects the software somehow?
I’ve used VAC for ages and it well worth the money, but is quite simple. Voice Attack is a bit more complex and could possibly do your startup procedure for you (I got it to request docking for me in Elite Dangerous) but I’ve been having recognition issues with it…. but this was in Elite, not BMS. LMC looks interesting, but the interface needs quite a bit of study before I could use it.

The TUSBA information I included was simply down to there being little to no info on it. The majority of posts that I searched, more often than not, referred to VAC being mapped via Foxy. Not being a Foxy user and being that I was able to get VAC to work outside of 4.33 but never in it, so, I came to the conclusion my supposed issue was down to key mapping. In BMS setup, TQS UHF is mapped to the HOME key so, I set it this way in VAC, which worked in the VAC test page but not in BMS.
I was not saying that TUSBA had anything to do with voice recognition software, merely giving information that I thought maybe relative to my issue of VAC not working in BMS for me.
I am finding Voice Attack to be great, you’re correct regards it being able to do the startup procedure, I believe using Voice Attack you could probably even complete an entire flight using only your voice but where’s the fun in that?
Apart from editing a couple of items in Crazy Canuck’s profile to suit my keyboard, if I recall correctly these were mainly in Tower Commands, some of which had different numbers to my setup. I have added raise landing gear on saying airborne and will likely also add in a next steerpoint command also.
On the whole, I’m finding Voice Attack to be really simple to use\configure and it makes a tremendous difference.
I had a look at LMC too however, I felt overwhelmed with the amount of settings involved.

Thanks for explaining it, I was worried I was missing something
As you have realised, you can have your joystick call up a key, such as HOME, and VAC/VoiceAttack/etc. will recongize that key as a “start listening” key. Same thing for “stop listening.”
Programming an entire flight is challenging, but makes the flight boring. Programming the startup is cool, especially if you incorporate some sort of “pilot verification” procedure. Like starting up a 'mech, but this time, it’s a jet.
