Tanker TACAN?
-
IRL you do not choose what AIRTAC channel to use. It is pre-definded depending on user/country and location.
-
Sure, but BMS is not predefined per country/user/location. So it could be useful to be able to edit it in the future. Perhaps so the TE creator can specify particular channels for particular countries, users, or locations.
-
Why should it be useful?
there is a difference between having it for cool, and having it useful.
To me what is useful is to know the tanker tacan, the actual channel isn’t quite relevant -

Why it would be useful? I do not see why …
The point is that you/we/the code will have to check that the channel is available and not already used.
-
Hm. Or the code would have to be made flexible enough to handle situations where one channel exists in use by several operators (potentially screwing things up for the user)
-
I still fail to see why it would be useful?
-
…multiple tanker/tanker tracks. Would certainly be nice to be able to construct such (if we can’t) and be able to assign desired TACAN to each. And subsequently any/all, even if singleton.
-
Is the TACAN channel in the brief?

Wouldn’t it be more useful that tankers be flown by human pilots?
What would happen then (with the current code)?
Can the tacan channel be controlled from the cockpit (i.e. the selected channel be visible to other pilots)? What will be the impact on AI?
Will the tanker still be able to provide refuel services? -

Will the tanker still be able to provide refuel services? Not possible by design, it will induce probably a ctd
