Radio acknowledgement
-
I was wondering how you acknowledge flight lead commands, or tower instructions. I have scoured the T, W, and other radio menus but can’t find how to acknowledge an instruction. Also, the tower seems to wave me off a lot on landing (usually when I am fumes so good luck with that mister ATC dude). Is it because I haven’t acknowledged on final. It happens even when I have been given landing clearance.

‘On Fumes’ = T-3
Not that that will clear other traffic from your path, but at least ATC will clear you and be quiet …. and not complain when you land.
Otherwise, I use T-2. If clearance is cancelled, T-2 again until cleared … being sure myself to deconflict with other traffic.

Thank you for responding. Any ideas on acknowledged responses or is that not a thing?

You don’t do the “on final” or any other voluntary or acknowledgement call as a player. It doesn’t matter if you’re flight lead or not.
The whole landing system doesn’t require any voluntary/acknowledgement calls by the player after flight lead calls inbound <30nm. If you’re getting “go around” then most likely you aren’t doing the right actions on approach (or the runway is bombed or similar).
Make sure you’re on glide path for the correct runway and not too close to the previous landing airplane (~90s min). A video or track would go a long way to diagnosing approach and landing problems.
If you’re emergency low on fuel, call emergency. If you aren’t landing 1,000 lbs. or more 90% of the time then you need to change your flying habits to make that happen.

you also have to be on that specific towers frequency I think

I probably do need to change my flying habits actually. Been Bingo a few times. I don’t fly particularly fast and am very frugal when using AB. Perhaps just need to transition at higher altitudes more.

Yep. Always set up as UHF 15.
