Decided to press on and get
done with
.Have uninstalled and reinstalled everything. GOG
s Falcon Collection in its three parts. viz- Falcon [2.0 MB], Falcon A.T [2.6 MB] and Falcon Gold [707 MB]. All allowed to install by default into
C:\Program Files\Galaxy Client\Games`.However, when downloading Falcon 4.0 from within Falcon Gold, no choice or indication of destination was given. At end of download it simply said
Falcon 4.0 [367 MB] installation completed
Unable to find Falcon 4.0 listed in my programs I went into
search
which showed Falcon 4.0 in C:\GOG Games\Falcon Gold. [different location to that ofFalcon Collection
]. Yes, the file is there okay [quite a comprehensive file with lots of items] though I find noexe file
therein so I really don`t know what to do with it. Have just left it alone. The Falcon BMS 4.33 U1 Setup zip 1.4 GB [from the
Forum
] I simply allowed to download intomy documents/downloads
andextracted all
into same. When trying unsuccessfully to start game from extracted setup file I STILL GET " Falcon 4.0 must be installed on system. Please install".
I am now wondering if I am indeed a
Blundering old fool
after all, and does my problem lie in the locations of my downloads ?Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and if I fail to
sort it
this time then that will be an end to it. It is perhaps getting beyond my aged head.bucaneer.

okay,
So Falcon Gold is well installe, correct, not simply downloaded?
Do you have a shortcut on desktop of start menu?Don’t launch it, just make sure it’s there.
Right click, preperties and note down the path of installationThat should confirm it’s installed and not only downloaded and ready for install
(I never installed anything from GoG as I have the original CD of Falcon 4.0, so bear with me with these détailsAs for BMS
Did you had a read of the BMS manual, there’s an installation chapter explaining the intracities of installing BMSDirect links to manuals are here:

I’ve just got a copy of GoG Falcon Gold (just for this very case - it was pennies to buy). I’ll stick it onto a Computer tonight and tell you where it should have put it on your comp. Once you’ve confirmed the file is there it’s a simple step to getting BMS installed …
-
Falcon 4 should be installed by default in a folder called “Microprose” in your root directory. That is the folder that BMS 4.33u1 should be pointed at during install.
-
you don’t need to install “Falcon Gold” - that is the Falcon 3 collectors edition.
in the GOG falcon Gold page you have “Falcon 4.0” under “game goodies”, that is the installer you need.
Forget about the “Galaxy client” just grab it from your library on their website. However, it doesn’t matter where you install it to. BMS will detect and validate the install automatically.

From GOG just install Falcon 4 nothing else is needed, from your GOG account you can do this, it is 367 MB. install it to windows C drive or whatever yours is. BMS 4.33.1 comes in as a torrent Unzip this using winzip 7 or something similar to your desktop. Check F4 has been installed onto your drive. point Bms installer to a fresh location. ie windows C drive then try to install. you might need to clear registry entries, but try first. let us know how you get on. Falcon 4 should be in its own folder not only the GOG one. in your downloads you should see F4 setup exe run this it will install falcon onto your drive. I don’t think that you have installed it but you have downloaded it. I have just re-downloaded it from GOG and in my downloads I have f4 setup exe when I run it it says “welcome to falcon 4 do you wish to install” are you seeing this box.

Bucaneer see this thread GoG Falcon4 to BMS for Dummies for a step-by-step set of instructions for what to install from GoG and how to get to the point of running BMS.
