Bug with "buddy-lase" diffrent Codes: GBU-54
-
Hello BMS Community!
I started to think about a new way to attacking moving target more efficient with my Squadron, and i came to conclusion that the GBU-54 have big pottential. The Plan was:
There were 2 f-16s in the air, one is lased with the Code 1511 and the other one lased with 1512 (changed it through the DED page)
The attacker Jet (with 8 GBU-54), Changed the laser Code of each bomb to 1511 and 1512 according to the order of droping , and delivered each time 2 bombs (we tried with RP 2, and Rp 1), and of course I changed the lasing status of each bomb in the CTRL page to “AFTER”.
After the delivery, I gave the signal and the 2 f-16s began lasing manually on the their diffrent moving targets.
What should have happend - The 2 bombs hit diffrent target according to our lasing.
What actually happend - The bombs hit my moving target despite of the diffrent lase codes. We tried to drop GBU-54 in many ways: Droping 1 bomb while the other f-16 is lasing the right code, Tring to lase 2 diffrent laser codes while only one of them was correct to the bomb and more variations.
All of it wasnt matter, the bombs always went to the laser of their owners (not related to the code that he lased)Does any of you know anout that problem, or if there any way to overcome it ?

Did you guys change set different LGB codes for each F-16 from the loadout/ munition UI ?
You do understand that you can only have 1 code for the LGB’s ?Am I understanding correctly that one aircraft dropped 2 LGB’s while they where lased with 2 different laser codes ?
When you say “The attacker Jet (with 8 GBU-54), Changed the laser Code of each bomb to 1511 and 1512” I come to the conclusion that you don’t fully understand the relation between LGB code and laser code.
The LGB code is set by ground personnel . The Pilot cannot change or set the LGB code. He can only change the TGP laser code. -
AFAIK, each bomb on a single aircraft should have the same laser code?
Regardless, I believe there might still be a bug with the laser code set up in pit, where UI laser code takes priority.
At least, from a few months ago, I remember I forgot to set LGB Code in UI. I tried changing it in pit to my assigned code, but both bombs went ballistic after I released them. Then did another check flight with unchanged UI code. First bomb with code 1511 set in MFD and DED went ballistic, second bomb with code 1511 set in MFD and 1688 in DED hit target dead-on.

Yes. Each bomb on a single aircraft has the same laser code.
The UI loadout code has priority because it is not a laser code. It is the LGB code and it cannot be changed while airborne. You need to match the TGP laser with the LGB.What do you mean by setting the code in MFD ?

Hi guys,
Don’t bother too much with this one, there is a bug here and already fixed for next update/Release, read here:
https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?26571-4-33u1-LJDAM-SMS-set-laser-code-not-workingLeech yes GBU-54 can set laser code from MFD, You should RTFM

I think I should !!! This will be the first time I will use the GBU-54.

I stand corrected. Apologies.

Moreover, the GBU -54 Will obey any laser code without regard the laser code you inserted to the bomb. (i hope, i wrote it right LOL)
at least, according to my tests. -

at least, according to my tests. No, that shouldn’t happen. Currently the GBU-54 will always be fed by the laser code that was entered in the munitions page, but it shouldn’t follow any laser code.
How did you tested this? Don’t forget that GBU-54 has dual guidance, so even without laser it’ll hit the target that was the SPI at release moment, right? In order to test diff laser code you should drop to 1 target, then slew the TGP to some other target and lase with different laser code, then see if the bomb will follow the 2nd target, I doubt that will happen…

There is always the first time
