Requesting update on Cougar install.
-
I am finally getting around to the project of setting up a Cougar as my stick, will be keeping x-65 as throttle. Ihave the how-to above and have downloaded the drivers.
I’m wondering, before I proceed, if anyone has done this recently with Win 7/64 and 4.33u1? Is this still doable? Any tips? -
BMS can handle almost any mix of controllers as long as each are USB addressable. You can select and assign them in the BMS controls GUI. Mapping them can be done via the BMS Keyfile and control mapper GUI, or use button emulation mode of the TM CCP utility.
Good luck

Thanks, AV,
I’m just wondering if anyone has done this recently, and with U1 -
Yes, its doable. Done it with W7 SP1 x64, BMS 4.32 U5. Other way around though, X-65 stick with Cougar TQS.
If you do it your way, some of the throttle buttons wont work for DirectX, so you will be forced into using the SST software.

First, thanks to Blu for that Cubpilot Cougar tips in the other thread. It was very helpful. Also, in another thread there was discussion of using Windows drivers or the actual Cougar drivers. I did download and use the Cougar drivers.
Anyway, I’m happy to report that the old Cougar install techniques work with 4.33.1. I just did exactly what the Cubpilot tips said. I did have to reflash the stick. Anyway, it works, but there were 2 issues…- The stick itself worked but the HOTAS buttons did not, with the Dunk DX profile loaded. I was able to get the TMS, etc., except trim to work using the DX method within the UI. I will be investigating this more, as I do want shifted behavior. The Duncs files are in Foxy, just doesn’t work
- The other minor issue was getting the first and second trigger detents to work. As it was getting late last night , the best I could do last night was second detent at the first detent position, again using the DX method in the UI.
I will be reeducating myself on Cougar programming.

Its worth noting that as a Cougar user, Im using it in unprogrammed mode, with everything just on DX.
You can get shifted behavior this way, too. You cannot get crossed keys this way, either.

Noted, Blu. Could you point me to a reference on achieving shifted behavior using DX/UI? I’'ve never been able to figure that out. I do have the “dx pinky” call back mapped to m stick.
Anyway, that, my trigger issue, and getting a working trim control are my priorities -
Its in the manual in your install folder. Which manual exactly, I forget. You cant do it through the UI, unfortunately. You need to make a copy of your keyfile, and add a section for the shifted keys.

Thanks, Blu. I’ll have a few days off work, and will be diving into that
