Yeah I kind of had the feeling music was not allow but the temptation is strongly there and some real pilot succumbed.
Imagine having to sneak a tape inside the cockpit.
Hilarious. -
Used often on cross-country/transoceanic flights. Most will buy or have someone make a “patch cord” that will allow audio from an MP3 player or something like it to play into the helmet hear pieces.

This is on the lighter side of things.
I am just wondering, do real pilot listen or allowed to listen music while in the cockpit.Short answer: No.
But for long range ferry flight in peacetime, maybe sometime some pilot might have one ear on the radio and the other on the MP3 player linked to the helmet with a home-made plug.
Certainly not during a RL operational mission. Pilots are professionals, not
. … I mean … most of them are “professionals”. -
Heard from an F16 pilot listening to QUEEN “One vision” during sorties. Long gone, was shot down over the bering sea in the late 80ies …

^ and lets face it, listening to “Chasing the Angels” lets you pull 10G just by pushing the throttle forward.

Long time ago during long night cross country ferry flights I used to listen to the music via CD player plugged audio adapter. Now I have Bose headset that comes with Bluetooth and can sync up with my smartphone, but guess what I’m not listening to any music. Why? It very quickly become annoying and destructing plus music get interrupted/muted during each radio call

I can imagine. Incessant radio calls would certainly kill the joy of the music.
