KEYBOARD KEY FOR RADAR LOCKS. PREVENTING AIRCRAFT FROM JETTISONING AG WEAPONS. HOW?
-
I don’t know where the radar lock key is, could it possibly be cursor 0? If not which key is it?!? Also, how do you prevent the autopilot from jettisoning air to ground weapons during a air to ground mission? It is extremely irritating!

STT is TMS up (on the SSC) twice from RWS on the FCR MFD. AP does not need to be prevented from S-J because it cannot do so, unless you use the combat autopilot. If you use the combat autopilot then you still dont need to prevent it from doing anything, because you are just there to watch anyway.

dbarton62261. Thanks for the info. I assume you mean / for TMS UP. If not, let me. I forget to mention that I’m frequently having a problem with the engine shutting down for no apparent reason. Any suggestions? Also, what radar mode, TWS, RWS, etc. is best for getting the cursors to move in concert with the up/down/left/right arrow/triangular keys?

yes, TMS up twice from RWS to get to STT. The TMS is the hat switch aft of the WPN REL (pickle).
For the engine shutting down, I would advise not retracting the throttle below the IDLE position. Aft of IDLE is OFF, and the engine will shut down if the throttle is retracted that far.
The radar cursors do not move in concert with the DCS arrow markings, but with the CURSOR ENABLE control on the throttle. Try moving that instead. I would recommend RWS over TWS generally.

dbarton62261. For me, cursor enable is located on the keyboard, not the joystick. I have the rather old, Saitek CYBORG EVO. Soon, I’ll be getting the Saitek X52 Pro. Any thoughts on this system? Also, I accidently undid the key responsible for communicating with the Tower, and I don’t recall what key it was mapped to. Which one is it supposed to be. I’m having trouble getting any! key to stick to that function. Any thoughts?

“T”
There’s a big blob of radio interaction menu lines in the .key file. If you have to, copy the whole section in total from an existing working .key file. I tried to get cute once and pare down my .key file by removing what I thought to be excessive entries. Whoops.

Its not a bad starting system. The throttle included is good enough to use, nearly. The stick is shy of a few buttons. Many folks use it happily enough.
Where you map cursor enable is not really relevant. Because of the great customisability of BMS, its not feasible to give instruction based on default controls, or your specific hardware. Therefore all my advice on specific instructions is based on the assumption you are sitting in a BMS appropriate cockpit.
If you removed the keymapping for tower, I would start afresh with a new keyfile. It will likely be much easier than fixing your existing one.

dbarton62261. I think you may have misunderstood which system I was asking about. I meant the CYBORG X52 PRO system. Your thoughts on it would be appreciated. Also, the standard key file for the Falcon 4.33 isn’t quite the same as the one I’m used to, which is the one for FALCON 4.0 ALLIED FORCE version of Falcon 4.0…. I’ve been playing Falcon 4.0. ALLIED FORCE for about ten years now, so I know it very well. I have a severe difficulty with short-term memory, due to a serious accident that occurred while I was in the Air Force, stationed at Incirlik,Turkey. There, I was an Aircraft weapons loading Crew Chief, working with the F.4D. Now, however, because of the brain damage I incurred, I’m finding it difficult to alter, or even remember, what key changes I’ve made, or where the correct key/key combinations are. Is it possible for BMS to create a much simpler, smaller standard key file, with functions that would make it much easy to get radar locks (like simply hitting Page Up or Page Down) and still be able to move cursors to refine the lock, or magnifying the lock beyond expanded. I get very tired of having to use combat auto pilot to obtain radar locks. Not to mention, combat auto-pilot has a nasty habit of jettisoning AG weapons when it’s engaged or engages enemy aircraft. It should instead… keep the AG weapons, go OFFENSIVE!, not defensive, shoot down the bandits… or ignore them… and proceed on its’ mission. Otherwise, mission failure. If we know that this is going to happen, why go on the mission?.. This may be a BUG, and it needs to be addressed. Soon!

Combat autopilot isnt a feature of the sim anymore, so bugs with it are not likely to be fixed.
Its possible I have misunderstood which system you meant. I have never heard of a cyborg x52 pro. There is a cyborg evo, which I have heard of but never used. Theres a saitek Pro Flight X52 Pro, which I gave my thoughts on above: that it is not a bad starting point, but that it is overall cheap and that there are better systems, notably ones with more buttons on the stick. The x52 pro has 28 buttons on the stick quadrant, but 6 of those are on the base of the stick, and might as well be on the keyboard for their accessibility. The stick has 2 hats. I would prefer if it had 4 hats.
Id recommend having just having TMS up and down as being joystick buttons when you get your Saitek X52 Pro. Good luck sir.

Combat AP and Steerpoint AP in the setup menu is just here for tests and Btests purposes.
