Sustained G Breathing Mod
-
edit 9/7/16
- DCS version
edit 8/16/16 - 2 variants to choose from
- new sounds added and many sounds improved
- levels lowered
- new video
Here is my G breathing mod.
The idea was to use real pilot audio and make “breaths.ogg” so long it will almost never loop.-
Variant #1
F-16 HUD aerobatics video arranged for 1m20s.
Authentic AGSM

Every “hick” maneuver from -
Variant #2
Extreme AGSM
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxVB1kwqSn3Bc2ZURVI3TXFseGM
Same as authentic + several additional minutes of more intense audio from F-16 videos and other sources. For fun. -
**Bonus Alternative
Removed by moderation. do you think you have permission to distribute these files from a commercial product?Extreme AGSM demo:
(Authentic would loop at ~1:44)
WIP Section
Filtering out the f-16 HUD video’s background noise with Audacity distorted things too much. Is anyone good at that stuff and would like to help?

^^some of the source audio files if someone is interested in helping me. With background jet noise removed properly I could build a better version.
See Post #17Credits, I borrowed some sounds from:

And what happens when it finally does loop?
-
Well if you manage to do 3 minutes straight of high G’s…. it loops and you get to enjoy it all over again.
I suppose you could make the file as long as you want.I do know that “breathf.ogg” (calming down) always plays for exactly 7.9 seconds, which makes it super easy to blend with “breathc.ogg” (calm breathing)

^^viper HUD demo audio if someone is interested in helping me. With background jet noise removed properly I could build a better version.I could take a look but I am a little busy now. I may be able to get to it by next week. Let me know the best way for you to get exactly what you want. Is it just removing the background noise and self explanatory or do you want to give specific instructions?

OMG… I got anxious about it…
Really makes you consider to loosen up on the stick…
Nice mod… let’s see what the “Real” guys will say about it.
-
Honestly sounds really good. I’ve done some actual AGSM in a mask with hot ICS and this is as close as I’ve heard a sim get to believable. Real AGSM is going to vary with onset and G intensity, not time, so this sample might sound “inconsistent” by comparison. I like how it fades in gradually, but the change in techniques between 2 pilots at 1:50 is a little jarring. Personally, I’d just cut out the guy at 1:50, he sounds like he’s dying on a centrifuge profile. The first guy sounds like an experienced/proficient pilot if you’re not hung up on the AGSM not matching the maneuver. (Which we’re not, because this is a simulator, and if it sounds good it is good, right?)
-
Thankyou for the feedback guys
ah AGSM, right that’s the term I should be using.Obviously there’s no way to make it match up with maneuvers all the time, but odds are it will match perfectly some of the time and when it does it’s cool.
It should be very rare to make it to 1:30 so it’s kind of a bonus. The idea with the second guy is you’re really having to dig deep at this point as you are surely in some kind of knife fight or furball, and 5-9G’s for 1:30 straight has to be brutal. You ARE dying on the centrifuge profile and if you fail you are going to be killed… However I agree it’s a jarring change. I could run it through some hi/lo-pass filters to try to make the sound match better. I will also probably make two versions, one with and one without “overtime”

 but get’s your level of anxiety to the max…
Jokes aside you are right… sounds exaggerated.

The thing is most of us fly with our intercom turned super low so we don’t have to hear ourselves. So, essentially, it’s unrealistic like this.

oh… bummer. I thought I was onto something lol. I’ll continue to work on it anyways because I find it immersive.

When you forget to leave your intercom up it definitely is realistic though!

Hmmm, Can you hear yourself from the vibrations through your neck and head, if that makes sense? What if I created those kinds of muted sounds and not intercom sounds

No not really. The ECS is louder than you are. Plus you wear ACCES earplugs so it does a good job of blocking a lot of noise.

Damn. I was imagining like an underwater muffled sound but I’m all for realism so scratch that idea

And here I was disappointed I cant get sidetone to work for my IVC then!

Viking I would love your help. Here is a link to some files (also updated 1st post)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/rqhipcgqxunkl3o/G_breathing_source_data.zip?dl=0Three files:
1. the original HUD tape audio
2. Isolated the parts I could use
3. examples of the sounds I don’t wantThe sounds I don’t want are the hi-pitched “whine” and the apparent rushing of air outside the jet. Anything that is not coming from his mouth/oxygen re-breather should be removed as much as possible while still keeping as much of his breathing as possible unchanged.
This helps it match up with my breathc.ogg (calm) and will sound better in game.
-
BTW does anyone have any other videos with good recordings of AGSM you’d like to share?

Hi,
I’ve downloaded the RAR file, and it is listed in my Linux Mint Dolphin with 3.2 MiB, but it contains nothing?
(I do not have a DropBox, nor a Google account…)Can someone please help me?

EarlybiteI re-packaged it as a zip, maybe that will work better for you. ? Try again.
