Crash after short period in 3D world
-
Hello.
Not sure what is happening here, but all is well with loading and even getting a good start in 3D world. Getting around 35 fps or so in the pit (not great numbers but still OK). After about 3-5 min. or so, I suddenly I get the message of doom showing up in upper LH corner cautioning me about CPU capacity…yet I’m still in mid 30s here. Then it just freezes and CTD. Tried to get a screen shot of that condition, but couldn’t. Posting up some crash log elements (not sure how much to include here really):

My first suggestion would be to en shore the most recent Motherboard Chipset Drivers are installed, for that you need to know the make and model of your motherboard.
Secondly what driver or CCC version is in use ?
Its a old low spec GPU, use a older driver not necessarily the latest.

CCC version is 15.7.1.
Most recent drivers installed.
Thanks!

Lack of RAM
Try to free ram before starting BMS or get extra capacity

Thanks Mav.
Something I have seen debate on is the ‘Superfetch’ service for Win 7. I have not disabled mine yet and was considering it, but have heard that it shouldn’t impact performance. That is suspect to me and seems like a big RAM consumer especially for a 3D application like games/sims. Thoughts?

Take a look at my hotlist there are some suggestions to kill services and processes

Lots of good stuff there. Thanks Arty!

This is the problem that I have. I couldn’t even get a screen shot because it would immediately CTD when I hit the print button. So I literally took some photos of my screen to capture the condition. FPS doing just fine. Smooth as ever. Just getting some funky stuff with graphics. GPU issue? RAM issue? Not sure.

You still haven’t listed the full specs for your PC.

Specs (also see crashlog above).
Windows 7, 32-bit
4-Gig RAM
Intel Quad Q9550, 2.83 GHz
ATI Radeon 5750 1GB, DDR5 (CCC version is 15.7.1.) -

As indicated in red : lack of memory !

Well, then if that indeed is the case, then I’m going to have to go to a new system (maxed out at 4 GB RAM on this 32-bit system). The only way to ‘free up’ any more memory would be to disable things like anti-virus which I’m hesitant to do. I’m already running a very lean system for processes running in background (always looking for ways to kill services I don’t need).
I was interpreting the red-highlighted message as a possible bottleneck in my GPU processing. Seemed like I still had some left in RAM. Looks like I was wrong.
Thanks for the feedback.
