TUSBA connected throttle and macros
-
Quick and easy one - I recently bought a new Warthog, and only last night snapped up a mint second hand Cougar for a very good price, so now am thinking use the Warthog stick and a TUSBA to connect the Cougar throttle. My question is - can I still use the TM CCP software to download custom key assignments to the Cougar throttle, or would I be better looking to use TARGET script software to do this?
TIA

Neither. You can’t use either foxy or target to program the throttle with TUSBA. There are two versions of TUSBA, the more expensive one haves a software that allow you to program the TUSBA. The cheaper one (the one i have) does not.
Anyway, i use directx programing, so it’s not a problem with BMS.
Other sims it might. -
+1.

Thanks guys. I may have to consider leaving the Cougar connected as designed with the joystick down the back of the desk instead…

ThisPlus I recommend using the TUSBA for the better axis resolution and DX programming over software (no Foxy,TARGET or TUSBA software and I have the expensive one).

I understand the better resolution okay, 12-bit = 4096 values over 8-bit = 256 values(?) but could you elaborate on the better DX programming bit please? Can I use a DX shift modifier, for example, so I can have a couple layers?
TIA

4096 steps. The axis gives you 4096 increments of throttle change vs 256. A little more precision.
If you want a realistic TQS with a few shifted functions like mine, then DX is the way to go. I program everything, HOTAS, MFP’s, MFD’s and switches with DX in my keyfile and never use software or the BMS UI to program anything. DX is more reliable with less chance of conflicts than software. I use a shift layer for comms, cursor and range buttons on my TUSBA TQS that is activated by pinky DX command on my Warthog stick on my FSSB-R2 Cougar base. -
Thanks Icarus, I think I’m persuaded to buy a TUSBA R2… Good to hear I can continue to use the pinky button on the Warthog as a modifier.

I have a TUSBA R2 modded Cougar TQS and LOVE it. But I like CMS->down as shift key with my Warthog stick! (Note that most of the places in the BMS docs where they indicate CMS->down they really mean CMS->aft…really wish the devs would correct this…)
Tip - the combination of Warthog CMS->down+pinky makes a really great command Eject combo too - just squeeze the stick!
