Cougar Goes Stupid
-
I have just resurrected my Cougar stick and am having a strange issue.
During 3 separate missions the Cougars buttons suddenly stopped functioning. The axis’ till work, but not the HOTAS buttons. If I exit the sim and go back in they are back at the start, but at some point they go stupid again. When I go to the CCP, the device shows ready.I set up the stick using the DX method in the UI.
Has anyone seen this, and how do you correct it?
Needless to say, I’ve gone back to the X-65 stick -
Check that the usb ports are not being shut down as part of a “power saving” profile . Happened to me once long ago

Could also be something screwy on the stick. Does the CCP show the button in green or red? Red is the easiest way to set up DX without silly Foxy behaviors overriding your settings.
Could be the USBs shutting down, could be the stick rebooting itself.

Good Day, Mates,
Dave, interesting concept. How would I test this? I can tell you it’s doing this on the same USP port that the -65 is now in , and the -65 doesn’t time out. Or at least, is not doing anything screwy. Also, The time interval for it going stupid varies. If it were a “timing out” type thing, wouldn’t it do it around the same time? Of the 3 times, one was on deck, one was mid-ingress, one was right before target.
Blu, do you mean the Emulator button? If so, it’s red.
BTW,I received a pm from someone having the same problem. -
+1 to what was already said, and…
Never put a Cougar or WartHog on an USB Hub that is not a powered one. For insurance, I always put mine on the motherboard USB port on the back of the PC, not those on the front panel.

My Micro Stick/Cursor switch has finally given up the ghost after several cleanings and 15 years of flight time.
Does anyone know where I can get a replacement ???
Looked on Cougar World, saw Reddog’s ([email protected]) old post, but no response.
Afraid he’s out of business.Regards guys, Jim H.

The part you want for the microstick is: Double Pot 252A104B60NB Microstick without board and without cap #6000198 ( Thrustmaster may have it with the board and cap ) best to ask…
Also here is a link to a post I made… post #12

Hi.
Got the same problem discribed in post #1. The only thing that works on the HOTAS is the microstick, which is setup with keybindings, the rest of the setup is Dunc’s Cougar profile. Axis are working fine.
Does anybody have an sugestion on how to fix this problem?
I like the idea of random aircraft system failure, but this is driving me mad.Stokes
