Today I had another of my ‘ideas’.
I have a windows/shared hosting website with unlimited bandwidth and memory use.
I just learned how to deal with the database and users using asp.net (c#)
I am a noob around everything concerning database stuff, etc.
But viewing how fast I can push a one megabyte file up there and get it back, I thought why not using the same techniques to store sim data and distribute to connected clients.Receive and distribute …
Thing is: this kind of website hosting is very cheap nowadays: 5 euro / month.
I assume it would be too slow in response. But just to get a professional view on this I dare to post this idea here. Now shoot me

What kind of sim data? I mean what you are describing here is essentially how Falcon operates when it’s run on a dedicated server.
Thing is: this kind of website hosting is very cheap nowadays: 5 euro / month.
It’s cheap for a reason - the bandwidth is throttled and it’s being run on obsolete hardware.
I assume it would be too slow in response. But just to get a professional view on this I dare to post this idea here. Now shoot me

In this video I am taking data from Falcon, feeding it to a MySQL Database, and then the Arma 3 Server is reading that data and loading it into the game. You can actually see the AWACs interface in here (@ 23 Second Mark) on the web. I have an updated version of this (not yet available for public consumption) that runs on a dedicated Falcon server and pushes full Falcon AWACs data to the same web interface - no more messing around with the OSC’s multiple apps to run a dedicated AWACs interface.
I am not sure what your goal is, though.

My goal is to find out if it would be feasible technically as a datacross (DC).
Server just shoots up his part(2D, 3D happenings) to the DC,
all the clients shoot up their parts (their tiny, tiny actions).And the server + clients would be fed from the DC.
Server would need less bandwidth.

If it is win8 win 8.1 even without vga works great as a BMS server in 3d. I tested one and gives 20fps and flawless bw and speed connections.

Impossible….
Not to mention clients not only need to send and receive from the Server, but from all other clients also.
