Where is the spacing for wingmen defined?
-
Not if you fly e.g. as #3 of 4
False.
IOW, if youāre in the #3 seat, you canāt change flight formation spacing.
You can. If you are nĀ°3 the nĀ°4 is your wingman as if you were the lead in a flight of two ships.
-
Well he probably means that if u are 3 and command 4 to close up, and get close to two, one and two still will have bigger separation.

Perfectly normal. As nĀ°3 you donāt have authority on the flight lead and its wingman!

Yes, of course, it would be nice to fly at #3 but the whole formation would be *some closerā¦
I think it would be also something for learning formation flying.Regards

I would reckon that as lead on the second element you could crowd in on 1 and your wing would follow you up closeā¦ If 1 is flying a level course to a waypoint he wouldnāt try to kick out as you nuzzled up to himā¦???
-
Yes both rightā¦ Dj known m8 earlybite says I want to fly 3 but command as 1 to observe for training (training mode commands?) the behavior of the element 1-2.
I believe this is nice feature.Sent from TapaTalk

Hi,
I would like to fly temporary a little closer!

Nice wiki there m8.
Really didnāt knew formations are adjustable that way.
Means we can add others also?Is there something that is Hard-coded in Falcon afterall?

Interesting stuff. Any idea how editing this affects multiplayer? Everyone needs the same edit? Or only the server counts?
-
Exactly what I hoped.

Although nice informationā¦
Donāt make it too complicated if it is not needed.
The formations is saved in the mission file for each STPS.
You can set the type of formation, but also how far/close the formation should be.This can be set with MC. Open the flight and see/edit the flightplan for this flight.
About in the middle of the Flightplan data you can find the column āFormationā and āSpaceā
The formation is pretty clear. The Space how far the AC should be spaced (distance)Double clicking on a STPT (row) will open the edit screen where you can set the formation and spacing.
(Lower left corner of the screen)
Each plus or minus is the same step as if you would use the command during flight.Gr Falcas

That part of the original file seems inconsistent, given the programed position of 4. And yet, he/sheās not trying to get 2ās position, obviously. And modifying distances works. Weird.

Hi,
that was the first try, because it looked really easy to realize.
I noticed also, that you can select, if you are on the flight page in MC, -All spaces-ā¦
- increases the space, - decreasesā¦
In my test I took -4 and it was really nearer! But it took a time, then AI a/cĀ“s respaceā¦
And, yes, this can be a new taste of flying, because it is harder to hold speed and position.
So far, so good, and
THANK YOU, sir!Regards

But it seems that only wedge is working?
-
Hi,
this is via Mission Commanderā¦
Wedge with -4 spacing:
But wedge was in my tests the only formation which took effectā¦
Spread e.g. had (AFAIK) the same space as before editing via MC.This via the approach of Cloud 9ā¦

Hi,
I have a question because the altitude of the AI wingmenā¦
E.g.:
3 0 1 Wedge
-135.0 0.0 0.02
161.12 0.0 0.02
153.53 0.0 0.04In my posting #25 you can see a closer wedge distance via MC and via Formdataā¦
As far I can see is the altitude level via MC the same of #1, but via Formdata there seems to be a difference.
What could be the reason? (Above my modified dataā¦)Over all a big THANK YOU to Thommo and Cloud 9 to make it possible at all!
Regards

I guess the opposite of spread but I used spread for quick test.

With what do you have tested it, with Formdata, or with MC?
If with Formdata, how you got the same altitude of the AI wingmen? -
Formdata. Not sure I understand the height adjustments but -1 seemed to equal the heights. Other entries (-2 etc) did not seem to have effect.
