Shadowplay makes it fluid… and it's choppy when disabled!
-
Greetings all. I wonder if you have a clue about that. When I enable Shadowplay and record, all is fine from my cockpit view. When I stop recording, it’s choppy…
All details at max, tested on campaign and on AAR stock training.
GPU GTX 980 x 2 SLI, brand-new comp, temps perfect, no other issue and nothing to report regarding Shadowplay under other circumstances. Drivers up to date. Monitor 60Hz. And I usually have a good sight, even when Shadowplay is idle (thank you LASIK…).
Obviously, quick search, nothing relevant to my question as far as I could find.
Thanks!
PS: I just checked to be sure, and even though I’ve not touched for quite some time (days), I realize SLI is disabled. So I enable it. Now it is superfluid. And very slightly less with Shadowplay on. Just as it should be. And yet I’m wondering how Shadowplay can make the game run fluid when it’s recording, while it’s not when it’s off… SLI mystery? (to me)

I have a similar issue on my single GPU running SGSSAA (Sparse Grid Supersampling) in the Mass Effect games. If I don’t run some form of overlay, ie FRAPS, Shadowplay, afterburner etc., it’s very choppy and unplayable. Turn on an overlay and it’s buttery smooth.

Hi, Some ideas to try…
Have you checked your GPU clock speeds while flying? (GPUz/MsiAfterburner)
Is your Falcon Nvidia Profile > Power Management set to Prefer Maximum Performance?
Are you running Windows in High Performance Plan (with core parking disabled)?Richie.

Exact same issue, and almost the same setup as LorikEolmin, but I run FRAPS the entire mission.
-
I solved it by re-enabling SLI. Are you GPU really working together? Nvidia control panel, simply.
EDIT: Shadowplay is supposed to use way less resources than FRAPS, as far as I know.

I only use FRAPS because of the glitch I have with the anti aliasing method in Mass Effect. Because I play it a lot, I have it set to run minimised at startup, but I almost never actually use it to capture video.

SLI is enabled. I have a three monitor setup. Very wide.
