Video Guide to a Basic Keyfile Using Kolbe's Keyfile Editor
-
Making a very basic DX keyfile using a default keyboard map and default DX device settings.

wow pretty, clean, easy and going to the hotlist.

I haven’t looked at the video yet, but there are some issues when using LibreOffice instead of excel which many folks here probably don’t own.
On my end the macros would not work reliably with LibreOffice, especially those using the “open…” and “Save As” etc dialogs, basically anything trying to do something file related.
All the best, Uwe

hmmm just a thought but I don’t know if the macros will work.
Has anyone tried to upload the excel file in the microsoft onedrive and use it from there?
Maybe this will save the trouble of not owning excel. On the other hand you can download and use it for a few days before activation.

Yes, this assumes one is using Excel. Thanks for the heads up on the alternate.
The underlying purpose here is simple: People see Kolbe’s Editing Tool and think it’s ‘hard’ or ‘too complex’. Well, it IS a complex spreadsheet, but Kolbe has done a great job of making it easy to use. Keyfiles in BMS are something that many people, including myself, struggle with getting started. The basic use of this tool allows anyone to have a functional DX keyfile in a very short period of time, without having to understand the complexities of keyfile structure or the complexity of the tool. I wanted to demonstrate that.
I hope to add one or two more short videos on using this tool for basic customization and/or adding additional DX devices (MFDs, for example).
