Editing missile flight profiles?
-
Hello there.
Just wondering if there is a possibility to edit missile flight profiles. I may have seen this question asked before, but my forum search hasn’t chucked up any definitive answers.
Basically, the AM39 (Exocet) missile has a strange pop up profile in game - it flies towards its’ target then at the last minute pops up and performs a parabolic impact.
I was wondering if this was modelled somewhere editable, or if this is a coded issue? I’m aware that some ASM’s use a different missile flight profile pretending to be something else, but I’m not sure if this a restriction in code or a restriction on missile data.
cheers
Skipper

I’m pretty sure Molni can speak to this as I know that he has modified the deployment characteristics of the AIM-54…
If it’s possible for the Phoenix it should work for the Exocet.

Actually, no.
For most missile it is possible (combination of loft bias, loft time, Gnav & GLead at different phase of flight), but anti-ship missile maneuvers are managed directly by the code and based on the Harpoon.

I have not tested new features of 4.33 but I guessed that pop up is exe handled and somehow is linked via DB or dat files. So creating sea skimming profile without the terminal pup up maneuver is not possible. If sea skimming happens it is bonded with the pop up.
For AAM I played only with lofting and other stuff but playing with that is not possbile to achieve the sea skimming mode.

Thanks all for the helpful responses. I had a feeling the exocet (and the Sea Eagle) missiles were based on another missile, but couldn’t for the life of me remember which missile it was.:D

ccc1tw was able to recreate a sea skimming thing…. trying to get something similar to a Torpedo…
