Reccomend a Screen/Solution for Thrustmaster MFDs
-
Having taken advantage of recent online offers to acquire 2 Thrustmaster MFDs - can anyone suggest a cheap monitor solution?
I was thinking of a couple of cheap miniature monitors…but they’re not that cheap…and seem to be driven by USB connectors in the main (I’m SERIOUSLY running out of Ports…Track IR, Headphone, Throttle Stick, Pedals, Keyboard, Mouse, 2 MFD panels…) so that’s not optimal…as I’ve had missed experiences with USB hubs!
I don’t really understand the ins and outs of the MFD extractor yet…so would it be possible to just stick them BOTH on a handy 19" monitor and have both MFD displays on that one screen (and would it be possible to size/position the display to marry up with the MFD buttons?)Cheers!

I’ve not used it yet myself, but the latter option involving a second screen is what most do. I believe you can export the displays and you just use XY coordinates to set size and location of the exported displays. It’s what I’d do if I had the desk space.

Yes it would, and that’s the way I went. I looked at the small monitors too, and like you say they are not cheap at all. I put a slot in my desk, and made 2 brackets for underneath, to support an old 19 flat screen I got from work surplus. So it sits below my main screen, and still handy to reach. BMS extraction works really well and is simple to use, just take while to set up the windows so they are exactly under the mfd bezels. I think it’s 375 pixels square, maybe wrong on that… cant really remember You can have other things like the DED, and RWR, but it does cost a few fps. I never got the other extractor working with 4.33. Keep an eye for the new version of yame extractor which sounds like it could be worth while using too

Same here, I’m using an old 19" 1280x1024 monitor with the MFDs taped onto the monitor frame using velcro. Works nicely and you can also extract other instruments to the same monitor, too.

Hello Jason
for small lcd to go behind MFD frame you could also check this thread:
https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?25985-Sourcing-8-quot-usb-lcds&highlight=CHInatobby
you would just need a cheap additional PCIe Graphics card - probably get a used one for a few quid on eBay -
+1. I have two 4:3 LCDs from Chinatobby for my own cockpit project. I’m using USB 3 to VGA converters to drive mine, but there are also LCD/driver board combos with HDMI and/or Display Port input.

Here ya go - one stop shopping for all manner and size of LCD screens and controllers. I’ve bought a couple of 7" 4:3 sets from Chinatobby - they ship quickly, and also provide fast answers to questions.
