Wing Vapor graphics stuttering/massive FPS drop problem

Hi guys!
I’m new to FalconBMS, but a seasoned flight-sim enthusiast (all flavors of IL2, DCS, ARMA etc.)
I have been trying to setup BMS for the last couple of days and was successful for the most part. Got my controls/data cartridge all done, and it was NOT easy.
Only thing (well, that I can tell for now ) that’s left is the graphics/engine tuning for performance. I got it for the most part by reading a million tutorials, some outdated, non of them solving my issue. Maybe it is a common thing, and not just me? Anyhow…that’s where you guys come in. My sys specs are as follows:I7 6700K (stock freq, no OC)
32 GB DDR4
ASUS MAXIMUS VIII Ranger
ASUS STRIX GTX 970 (NVIDIA) - latest drivers - 373.06
Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS
TrackIR 5OS: Win10x64 - v1607
Falcon BMS is 4.33u2
One would (correctly) assume this is a reasonably powerful machine - and it is - covers all my other siming needs without issue.
Here is the issue in BMS:
As can be seen - a little vapor over the wing kills 30-40 FPS (and introduces massive stuttering) which is INSANE. So I’m looking for a way to either fix this in the graphic settings - or disable it completely

I have the same thing here, but since i have 120 FPS, it doesn’t really impact my FPS…
You could try to turn down some graphic setting like object density or object detail to gain more FPS so it won’t affect you anymore

Hi,
I’m still with U1 (But FPS with U2 are same, there is simply nothing that can affect FPS between U1 and U2), and I just measured this, I could spot ~20-30 or so FPS drop, but I couldn’t see any stutters.
The vapor effect is naturally heavy as it produces a lot of tiny particles every frame, unfortunately I don’t think there is a way to get away with performance hit, but still the hit on your system seems a bit too rough, I hadn’t seen complains about this specifically.
My system:
i7 4790K
16GB RAM
GTX-780
Driver same as you, just updated 5 minutes ago
Main screen on 1920x1200, 2nd screen 19" for exported displays 1366x768My configuration however is pretty “clean”
I have Nvidia driver AA set to to “Application controlled” and in BMS Multi-sampling set with Quality 7
AFx16 forced from driver
V-Sync forced OFF from driver
All kind of optimizations in Nvidia driver which favor performance over quality are disabled
Texture filtering set to High qualityNo additional optimization tools and no other crap, this way I find my picture quality to be fantastic (at least so I like it) and performance to be quite fair.

I strongly suggest you to take the “simple” tools, i.e use the Nvidia default driver options and internal BMS settings in order to assign picture quality and performance, from my experience, external tools only cause confusion and false improvement feeling.
Your drop seems very large for the strong system you have, are you using any kind of super sampling by a chance?

Did as you suggested - reset all driver settings to default - massive improvement - around 100FPS when looking at the wing vapor, and up to 150 FPS when looking forward.
Just left the things you said (forced vsync off, AF). However, I only have BMS Multi-sampling options from 0 to 3. You sure you are using 7?Was not using any super sampling.
Is there any setting that handicaps me in the arena (smth like draw distance, distance at which aircraft/units are rendered) or is this all just eye candy?Anyways thank you very much for this - was starting to loose hope
EDIT: any smart way to get rid of the screen tearing other than vsync? My eyes are killing me.

I never suffered tearing myself, but if you are getting well above 60 FPS, then I guess you can just use V-Sync to solve the tearing problem, 60 FPS is smooth enough so you won’t notice anyway the difference between 60 and 100 FPS.

All very bad advice. For numerous reasons. They should be removed from the UI.

Just for the record - I got rid of tearing by enabling vsync option “Fast Sync” on my GPU driver. Finally I can start flying
