Dogfight aircraft selection

According to data, it’s not the CFT one.
Open the following files with Notepad:
Data\Art\dgft\play\DF_FLGHT
Find:
[ADDITEM] DF_AC_F16I52+IL C_TYPE_ITEM TXT_F16I52+IL MID_DF_TYPE
Replace with, or add below:
[ADDITEM] DF_AC_F16I52+CFTIL C_TYPE_ITEM TXT_F16I52+CFTIL MID_DF_TYPE
Data\Art\dgft\play\menus\fb_new, Data\Art\dgft\play\menus\flights, Data\Art\dgft\play\menus\tm_new
Find:
[ADDITEM] DF_AC_F16I52+IL C_TYPE_ITEM TXT_F16I52+IL MID_DF_F16
Replace with, or add below:
[ADDITEM] DF_AC_F16I52+CFTIL C_TYPE_ITEM TXT_F16I52+CFTIL MID_DF_F16
If you want to add another, variables for aircraft are in Data\Art\dgft\userids.id, Data\Art\main\textids.id and Data\Art\main\units.irc.
To do at your own risk ^^

Right on……I’ll give it a shot.
If I have to delete and re install, it’s on me.
THANKS ! -
Just backup those 4 files before you do any changes. Way easier than reinstall in case of screwing up.
Oh and btw, an aircraft needs its dogfight CT for this to work (in Editor: vehicles -> aircraft. Open one -> “Related Vehicles”, there should be 5 CT there)
EDIT: F-16I with CFT won’t work, it does not have its dedicated dogfight CTs. You can still add them yourself, just make 4 copy of CT 2406 (one for each modes - crimson/viper/shark/tiger), but then, you’re starting to modify db, not sure that’s a good idea for MP stability. I don’t think having 4 more CTs will break anything in that regard, as you don’t modify existing stuff, but you never know…

Okay….I’m totally lost.
What’s a CT ??
When I open it, I see one for the A-1H, not five.
I DO see five tabs, is this what I should be looking for.
If so, what do I do to them ??I followed the steps above and got the A-1E to show up in the selection list of acft to fly, but cannot select it.
There is an asterisk in front of it on the selection menu.
Does this have to do with my CT ignorance ?? -
Open up the editor and go to the class table tab. Sort by name and find the plane you want to add to dog fighting. There should be three identical records. One type airplane, one type squadron and one type flight. Right click on the type “Flight” record and add four copies. Open each copy and make the owner crimson for one copy, shark for one copy, viper for one and tiger for the last.
-
Got it. Thanks again !
Will advise.
Just figured my issue with the A-1E, it do not appear to be flyable.
SMH….trying the A-1H. -

You couldn’t be more wrong, it is the airplane you need to make copy of, not the unit.

Oops. Should have checked what I wrote before submitting it. Defiantly meant airplane not flight. Anyway, that’s the procedure I used for the 52+cft and it worked just fine.

No problem guys……thank you so much for sharing this rather nonstandard request with a noob !
Can I correct the extra ‘flights’ by deleting them ? Do I need to ?
I’ll try this with the extra "aiprlane’ and letcha know how it goes ! -
You can’t delete entries in BMS Editor… But you can correct the ones you added.
Just open CT 2406 and use the same values for those 4 “wrong” ct you created, except for owner which need to be set to crimson, viper, shark and tiger like I said above.
You can also use backup files in Data\TerrData\Objects\FE_Backup and restart from there.

SUCCESS !
The screen starts with the Skyraider at Mach 1, so that doesn’t work so well.
Otherwise, it works !!!Thanks again !
