Full screen and -window issue

[SOLVED]: See post #7
Hello everyone,
I’m running 4.33 U2 and having an issue. Ever since 4.33 (the first version I’ve played) if I launch the game normally, after the splash screen loads, the main screen comes with a big black bar on the left side, and the whole screen is shifted right so that I can only see to the T of “Theater.”
Before U2, I fixed this by launching the game with -window in the shortcut. This would put the main screen as a small window, but when I flew, it would change to full screen and everything was fine. Now however, even when flying the game is in a window, and I have the Windows 10 system bar over the bottom. The window is not adjustable.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this?

The dimensions of the 2D part of Falcon have always been fixed in resolution. Full screen just rescales the display up.
The windowed mode normally starts with the upper left corner of the window aligned with the upper left corner of the display. It’s not movable or resizeable. However set g_bCenterUI 1 in falcon bms.cfg does provide an alternative. It’s not a lot of customization but it’s a singular alternative to just center the window in the display.

even when flying the game is in a window,
I would Recheck your resolution settings in BMS->Setup I have a feeling its at its default setting here you should change it to your monitor res and refresh then in 3d it will be full screen again

Disable splash screen.Try updating graphics card drivers(restart system is required).Adjust BMS resolution to your monitor settings.

Thanks for the options guys, but still no go. I changed g_bCenterUI to 1, with no change. However, that screen - ever since going to U2, IS movable now. Not adjustable size wise, but movable.
The resolution and refresh are correct for my display. It’s one of the first things I checked. Before, when going to the 3D flight screen (when you fly) full screen would take back over, and all would be fine. Now however it stays windowed, and since it’s set for my display resolution, I can’t see all of the screen due to the bar at the top, and the windows task bar along the bottom.

Sounds like a Windows issue.
Right click on the middle(empty space on taskbar), Go to properties. In the first tab Taskbar, checkmark the “Auto-hide the Taskbar”. Click Apply.
To access the Toolbar after that, just scroll you mouse to the bottom of your screen and it will pop up.
See if that helps.

Okay, I got it resolved finally. I don’t know what happened after the U2 updated, but I completely uninstalled, reinstalled, and then what fixed it was adding the “-window” line to the shortcut (which I already had), in the config setting “g_bCenterUI 1” (which I already had) and then from the launcher clicking on “Cockpit Display Extraction,” clicking on the “Main” radio button, and then setting “Left” and “Top” to “0” and unchecking the “Borders” checkbox. It must have been somewhere in this last step that I wasn’t doing before!
Thank you for everyone who tried to help, you kept me testing thing and searching!

Your taskbar is “always on top” it seems. This is different than “auto-hide” which always rolls away except on mouseover. Apparently some applications when set to “always on top” and then pinned to the taskbar also cause the taskbar to be always on top.
What I find interesting is that your 2D window has borders (and title bar on top) while mine does not. Do you use some special window manager utility which is overriding the window properties to force them to have borders?
As for the 3D window, I see it has borders and a title bar which usually you do not want. Check in the BMS Launcher, Cockpit Display Extractor Configuration and look for the checkbox “borders” on the Main window.
-
its the main window option in display extraction the borders option is enabled by default
out of intrseat previously did you check that option as the left and top values may have been something other than 0 ?

I had it set to 0,0 previously, but it must have gotten unset in the update. I hadn’t played in a while before the update, so I was a little out of the loop on what all I had done!
