Finally starting the upgrade to 4.33
-
So, as the title suggest I’m finally getting round to checking this beast out. My first impression is wow, a lot of blue, I don’t know if it’s just me but when I see the new ground textures there just appears to be a lot of blue that almost pops out on my screen. Is there a way of modifying this or installing alternate textures?
Other questions I have for when I upgrade the training sims we use includes the use of MFDextractor, we have used this software on our sims for many years to extract the instruments and MFDs to behind a mask on a secondary display. How does this software play with 4.33, does it work in 64 bit, does it work at all?
The new keyfiles also look very confusing, due to the application of our sims we try simplify our hotas mapping as much as possible. The most notable change that we used to use in 4.32 was the cycle a-a hardpoints function. I seem unable to find this function if it is in 4.33, I was able to find the counterpart for a-g under the shortcut section of the key bindings.
Any and all help would be much appreciated due to the extremely limited spare time I have available for researching this.

cycle hardpoints using NWS HOTAS command, or if if you are trying to cycle A-A/nav just use A-A button push in the ICP section

Thanks for the tip, I was unaware that the NWS did that, unfortunetely the functionality I’m looking for is to be able to press it once to activate a-a mode and then cycle a-a weapons after that. Likewise the a-g function puts the aircraft in to a-g and then pressing it again will select the next a-g weapon.
We try to limit the amount of key presses needed to be memorised by the pilot making as simple as possible and obviously now during the upgrade I’m trying to limit any changes between the old and new system.

This might help with the key bindings https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?29122-Keybindings-Map-PDF
Cheers!

MFDE works fine.
The keyfiles are no more or less confusing than before. There have been some changes and a handful of commands removed (non-realistic, or, essentially, duplicates). Check the Docs Folder, under Keyfiles and Input for a pdf with the changes identified and/or listed.

While MFDE still works, I suggest checking out YAME64 as it has some really cool features such as the saving and sharing of gauge layout and starting programs before BMS launch.

+1 for YAME64 over MFDE from me as well. MFDE seems to be no longer actively developed, and Roccio and FD are doing a stellar job both w/r to to improving the application and offering great support here in the forum.
All the best, Uwe

If you study the manual, it should be WAY LESS confusing that before. It is only confusing for ppl used to use the old unrealistic (non F-16) commands from Falcon4 legacy.

Thank you for the suggestion of YAME, it looks like an excellent piece of software and could save me hell of a lot of time in sim maintenance due to its options for saving different instrument layouts.
As for the blue roofs, I never considered it but wow, it is even more blue in real life hahaha so simply for realism I can live with the moderate amount of blue in the sim.
As for the keyfiles, yes I believe they are probably a lot nicer than any older ones. I just delved into the keyfile properly to find the “next A-G Weapon” entry and was able to add the A-A one manually allowing me to gain the same functionality as before.
I believe for now this wraps up all my questions about 4.33 and I hope to transition the sims early next year. Thank you for all the responses I appreciate the help and suggestions.
