Trackir with 2560.
-
my fps is 60,61 almost constantly. been checking that a lot too.
just stumped.
thx -
Things like this are usually windows problems. Something is interfering with the TIR driver most likely.
It’s almost like the service doesn’t have priority over other system events, so the TIR has to catch up when it finally gets an input.
There’s one related problem with windows, deep down, that input devices don’t have a high enough priority in the OS. It’s really visible defect when you compare to OSX and Linux.
I would save your TIR profiles, completely uninstall the TIR software, and reinstall it.
I’m having an issue right now where I can’t start TIR without running it in admin mode, and because of that it won’t automatically start when windows starts -
Well i’ve tried 5.2.2, 5.4.2 software, i’ve tried all different profiles including yassy’s,
Tried one to one, smooth, everything.
If i snap my head quickly, its not bad but if i just casually scan.around, bam, split second delay.
Even pause falcon, still there.
Switched to a different usb port, still there.
My fps hardly ever drop below 60.
Really noticeable if looking out the side and scanning back and forth in a small area of view. -
F7 precision mode? Sorry, just covering the bases;)
-
Thanks. Tried that too.

if your smooth setting is too high, this will cause delay on trackir. Trackir itself is already good enough that it doesnt need that high smoothing. So if you have this setting above 10 or so, try turning this down.
-
Thanks guys.
You know, ive had trackir for at least 5 years now.
Guess i never really bothered with it on my smaller screen cause it didnt show as bad.
Now its driving me crazy, i bet i tried at least 30 different settings.
Now funny you say that, my latest setting is speed 1.1 and smooth at 19.
Still the microsecond lag when 1st moving.
Its really noticable when leaving the main front hud view.
Messing with this more scince thanksgiving than scince ive owned it.
Maybe my old eyes have something to do wuth it, dont know.
Maybe something with trying to stick to the front standard view, dont know. -
reduce smooth below 10 as stated
-
Yep, tried that. setting at 1.1 and 15 now.
at 10 it was a little to jerky looking down and around in the pit.
I’m getting closer but no matter what, still the microstudder when starting movement or reversing direction.
An ghosting of the display, but only the display, in the hud when looking left and right crossing the hud. -
You can also try opentrack:
https://github.com/opentrack/opentrack/releases -
Hi,
like all puter problems, process of elimination……You probably tried most of these, but just in case, this is the way i would start. Is the problem there with the camera view (raw view). Are you getting three good clean green spots, are they centered. Check the reflector type, distance from the screen, position of the camera, and light filter thershold. If all good, reinstall TIR and try another usb port. Make sure its connected directly, not through a hub.
If camera view is not lagging, then look at speed and smooth setting. speed max and smoothing min, check with default profile. Isolate the axis and check each one in turn.
Is your cpu running at full speed or idling during testing. Are you running software from an SSD or HDD. Use task mgr to check you’re not out of memory or max cpu usage. If possible try the camera on another rig with same monitor
Can’t think of anything else obvious for you.
-
Thankyou fish.
Tried them all but each setting by itself, try that today.
Cant use another puter.
Camera view i really cant tell, my eyes i guess.
As far as cpu running, well the only way i can check trackir is in sim, tried it running and paused.
Trackir settings all look good. Distance, reflectors, etc.
Only thing i can use trackir with is bms.
Im beginning to think this has nothing to do with settings, speed smlothness.
Everything good but that hesitation .
I find i can manage it better with fast jerky head movement. Slow movement is definitely worse.
Moving my head slowly makes things look like a studder festival.
When you cross over your front hud view, does your view try to snap back to falcons standard fov? -
can you post a screen shot of your settings?
-
Ok, well i have tried everything suggested and more.
Still there, i give up.
Made trackir high priority, reinstalled drivers, tried all settings from .1 to 5 and smooth from 1 to 50.
Tried one setting at a time, tried many different profiles. Tried different usb ports.
Tried both reflector and ir.
60 htz checked .
Thanks for all the help though.
Been trying scince thanksgiving, when i bought 34 " lg monitor.
I give up, disgusted. -
Will you post your settings (from C:\Program Files (x86)\NaturalPoint\TrackIR5\Settings.xml) and the profile (C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\NaturalPoint\TrackIR 5\Profiles) here, so i can try them, im using a dell QHD 3440x1440. Just copy the content with a text-editor like notepad…
I attach mine below if you wish to try them. Don’t forget to backup your originals.

I’m not having any issue with my 2560 and TIR either. What is your screen response time? Kind of sounds like some kind of ‘input lag’.
-
Thanks guys.
I’ll try to get my settings for ya fish.
Agave.thats kinda what im thinking but not sure how to check.
Screen is supposed to be 5 ms but dont know if thats what you mean.
Falcon itself has no lag, running at a pretty steady 60 fps. -
Thanks guys.

Falcon itself has no lag, running at a pretty steady 60 fps.I’m not sure if ‘response time’ matters, but thought I’d ask. Mine is 5ms also, so it’s not that spec.
I do have an issue, possibly related …… occasionally my mouse ‘lags’ and ‘sticks’ for a moment since I got the 2k screen. I’ve assumed it’s a dirty mouse pad or optical tracker, but ?maybe? my mouse is doing what your TIR is doing … ? Some kind of interface/input lag?
-
Agave i just dont know.and no time today to mess with it.
I know it still does it after switching between hdmi and display port cable too
Thought das was suppossed to stop it.
And freesync no difference either. -
@fish. I will try to get you pics tomorrow.
No time today. Medical problems.
