IVC Not connecting after the two latest windows updates
-
Hi, guys!! is there any reported or known issue with the latest updates from microsoft?
All ports are forwarded 9987-9989
I’m able to host a connection, but IVC keeps failing… “Looks like there is no server running or…”
Original KTO, no mods
FIREWALL DISABLED
thanks

Hi Rioevcfenix,
I’m also having problems with IVC, although the rest of my VFS are not. There must be something that we are doing wrong/missing etc.
When you say you can host a connection, can others connect to this host?
Try Simple Port Tester to check that the ports are open. Don’t just trust your router settings.
If you are on the Falcon Lounge Discord, look me up ( Pegasus82#5308 ) and maybe we can go through some testing.

Hey Pegasus! thanks for replying!!
Yes, they can connect to my host. What i’ve found out about IVC, as a host, is that you’re not supposed to type your IP adress on the ‘dedicated IVC server’, you simply type 127.0.0.1 that somehow it will link your IVC to your connection and others will be able to connect to you and IVC without a problem!! This is how I solved the problem here.
Just to clarify the client side: if you’re connecting as a client, you need to type the host’s IP adress on the ‘connect to IP adress’ and make sure you’re not using comma, but rather dots, and also repeat the host’s IP adress at ‘dedicated IVC server’.

Hi Rioevcfenix,
127.0.0.1 is what is known as the loopback address - anything sent by a machine to 127.0.0.1 ends up at that same machine. You might have seen a t-shirt saying “There’s no place like 127.0.0.1”. So, yes, if you are hosting IVC then 127.0.0.1 is always valid as an address in the client on the same machine. You might see 0.0.0.0 suggested as well, as (in the context of IVC at least) it can be translated as “all the addresses on this machine”, so it would cover any set of IP addresses you have (wifi, ethernet, VPN endpoints etc)
You can use your own IP address in the client (if you are hosting IVC) but 127.0.0.1 is so much easier to remember.
