Skin selection issue
-
Hi,
when i select a plane with more than 1 skin (for exemple f16cm block 40) and choose any other than the first skin, it always in flight shows the first skin of the plane. it also can be seen in the payload preview screen of the briefing.
than i edit the TE i have just created and see that the plane wears its first skin, while i saved the TE with another skin.
No matter Hi-res textures or not.
(I use a fresh new bms install up to date) -
i don’t understand what you’re saying
if you meant to say that when you select another skin and then save the TE and the next time you reopen the TE and see that the first skin is still active, then that’s a known issue (skinsets are not saved with TE)
When i change a skin, it does indeed change the skin and i can see that in the arming screen and in 3D
BUT if you change the skinset of another aircraft in the TE, the original aircraft (the one you already changed skin) will change as well (and if he has 2 skins, then of course it would revert to the original one)
that is unfortunately also a known issue that can be overcome by using the camo.cfg filecounterintuitive, yes. complicated, yes
known and reported, yesso nothing we can do about it for the moment, except learning how to manage skins from the camo.cfg

thanks for answer. Sorry if i’m not clear (but we can’t speak french i guess)
“Skinsets are not saved with TE” - Ok that might be the problem (means that .dds file numbers must be replaced to access another skin for a moddel ?)
“When i change a skin, it does indeed change the skin and i can see that in the arming screen and in 3D” - …. I don’t … that’s what i call an issue : I can’t fly with any other skin than the first (for a plane that has severals). In facts :
I create a simple TE with just 1 flight 1 plane (a f16cm block 40) training. arming window i select weapons and for exemple the second skin of this plane. I save, exit, launch that created TE and in flight (3D) the skin of my plane is the first and not the second one.
If it’s normal Ok i can do with it (replacing .dds files of a skin for another) but i don’t think it’s normal.
thanks again and sorry i maybe make you losing your time with that ^^ -
hi touten,
thats an very old issue, when more skinsets are in the model the default will be picked in flight…
only way to do is with missioncommander… -
OK, thanks for the answer but ….
To verifie if it’s not a so called “psycho” effect i’ve just re-install BMS 4.33 with no updates and try the same test : i create a simple TE with only 1 F16cm block 40, i open the arming screen and selected another skin than the first one (I selected the one with a checkerboard and a horse and number 5 on the tail), than i save the TE and launch it and … in flight (3d) or in the loadout page during briefing the skin of my plane is the one i selected during creation of TE.
When launching the game again OK the skin is not saved in the TE but when i select a skin it’s the one with wich i fly in 3d (in BMS 4.33 with no updates) - in contrary with my U3 install it doesn’t work anymore : the skin i choose isn’t the one i fly with.
If i am the only one that have this issue with this simple test than ok it’s a problem with my installation but it seems to me that this issue is not so old … -
a last check - I’ve just uninstalled everything (bms 4.33 with no updates and bms 4.33 with U1/U2/U3 updates) - than I installed a fresh new bms 4.33 with the 3 updates and re-do the simple test.
When in flight the skin of my f16cm40 is not the one i’ve choosen (and the issue is for any Aircraft that has several skins… f14 or others). In bms 4.33 with no updates the skin in flight is the one i’ve choosen (whatever the Aircraft). So there is an issue and it seems to be related with updates 1-2-3. -

I have exactly the same issue with 4.33 U1/2/3, I can’t change skins when the Aircraft has several skins options !

No problems here.
Explain your process and aircraft. Is this in TE or Campaign?

Hi C9
This problem occurs in TE
I can select different skins in the TE Builder by selecting “Change skin” but when I save it and after the selection of the button “take off” the skin doesn’t change.

So you’re saying, you pick the skin in the TE builder, then you load that TE and when you go to fly, that skin you save in the TE Builder is not on your plane? Correct?
If that’s the case, here’s what is happening and what you need to do. A little rehash from Red Dog above.
The skin will not save from the TE Builder to flying the TE.
What you do is, make your TE and don’t worry what skin is on the jet. Make sure that your takeoff time is at least 5 min’s in advance of 0901 or whatever time you have as the start time of the TE, so set it in the Flight Plan with a TO time of 0906 or 07. Because if you are with 5 min or less of take off you cannot change the skin when you’re going to fly the TE.
Once you load the TE to fly it, stop the clock, go into the Loadout and change the skin there. If you want to save that specific skin in the TE, then do a Save. If not, then you can continue to change the skin each time you load the TE to fly.
Is that clear enough or did I confuse you? LOL
Hope it helps.

What about MP flights for this?
Let’s say u have set the camo.cfg and all have the correct file (camo.cfg).
So if the opponent has or changes the default skin you will see the default skin? The opponent must tell you the skin and select the same?
Also what about your wingman? What will he see?
Sorry if it’s a dumb q I faintly remember something about passing a file to all mission members but can’t find it right now.sent from my mi5 using Tapatalk

Never mind.
Found it. Raptor gave me the answer.create the mission
open it in MC
go to units
declare the unit name and save.
