Weather

Just a question about weather. Is it normal for weather to change for ~30-60s when adjust external views? Say I’m flying towards the FLOT and I’m using 8 view to get screens. If I’m looking at a jet that is a few ‘weather cells’ away, the weather jumps and changes. When I go back to the pit, the inclement (for example) weather I was flying through, is suddenly sunny as it was by the friendly jet I was just viewing. A while later, the weather jumps back to inclement.
How big are the cells? I’ve noticed that after take off, the cloud layers often jump about and change. I’m using a map model with auto updates enabled, generated using WeatherGen: http://firstfighterwing.com/weathergen/
I guess what I’m asking is if I go from a sunny cell straight into an inclement cell, the weather will suddenly jump to new settings?

the weather jumps and changes.
Climate change!
the inclement weather I was flying through, is suddenly sunny
Global warming!
A while later, the weather jumps back to inclement.
Climate change!
How big are the cells?
HUGE, due to El nino!
I guess what I’m asking is if I go from a sunny cell straight into an inclement cell
That’s Global cooling!!

depends on how the weather file has been made

Has anyone started a “Weather file” repository for different tpyes of weather patterns - excluding the options already inside BMS obviously?

PS, I know how to load “Inclement”…

Yes this is normal from a code point of view
Some of the weather transitions are smoothen with a time related variable
When you jump from one cell to another that was not interpolated in space (typical when switching views with AC that are far away) , the the code has to launch the time interpolation again to adjust the global parameters …
Hope that explanation makes things clearer

It does mate, thanks. Pretty much what I thought was occurring. Either way, the current weather model is brilliant, and I’m truly enjoying learning IFR approaches using the excellent charts. I’m still doing it very wrong, but I’m slowly adding new parts as I learn. I can’t believe just how much my experience has improved (not that it was bad before!) since printing out all of the checklists and airport charts.

Short answer - You Can’t from with in BMS … longer answer “Inclement” is actually a Weather Map so the chap who designed it sets the wind speed and some other stuff as with all weather maps your “Tweeking” options are limited from with in BMS …
However - you could go here and start making your own weather MAPS …
